I'm a avid reader and gamer and I want to be able to post affiliate links at the end of my content. I hate spam a lot so I wouldn't put a link where I feel I didn't contribute value to the reader first. Is there a rule against affiliate links? Is there a special vetting process one has to go through? I would optimally like to re-invest in the steemit community to produce better content. Thanks in advance for your replies and opinions.
I share affiliate info all the time. It's more about how you do it,
being considerate, thinking of value first as you say.
It's you account, you do whatever you want with it.
I talked with Amazon associates over the phone and they told me I need permission from the site owners. I asked her about YouTube and Facebook and she told me that they own their channels and groups so they can post the links there. Do you technically own your own Steemit account like you would your YouTube account?
The ads I'm displaying don't show automatically. I make the ads myself and reroute the traffic to profit from this. I'm not registered with Amazon so I don't know how they go about their ads. The one below is for a company that offers mediation when using cryptocurrencies to purchase in Amazon though, it works just fine.
Interesting, I'll have to check it out. Is it cool if I follow you and ask a few questions at a later date when I decide to dive into this more?
Sure thing! I mostly do Spanish from this account but can be found too as @tommycordero for English speakers. I post ads on that account too so I know it's good, you shouldn't have issues as long as you don't go crazy with it.
Thank you, I followed both of them. I usually have a hard and fast policy of giving at least 4-5 points of value before asking for anything in return (the ad being the ask in this situation). :)
Quick Update, there is a bot that goes around down-voting you if you use affiliate links in your posts. It is a certain powerful member of the community who doesn't like other people making money.
Hi, I would also like to know the name of this bot. Also, can downvoting occur after the one week monetisation period? If not, then to avoid the bot’s downvoting, one could convert the links to affiliate links after one week when there is no more steem earning potential for the blog post.
Well, that's a bit sick. I've given up on jobbing to make the dollars, instead, I rely on crypto and affiliate. Lesser of two evils I say to the ideological purist your certain powerful member of the community appears to be.
Lol I like how you wrote “Jobbing” first one I’ve heard that. And yes, that is sick. Some people are so controlling.
That's sad. This rhetorical question is for the bot-guy. How about learning how to fly rather than digging holes beneath people? Both increase the distance between you (obviously your goal), but one is inspiring to others as they look up, whereas the other only enables you to fool yourself by restricting you to looking down. Greatness is not achieved by disabling others. Greatness is achieved by inspiring others.
Epic response, @tboanprods!
LOVE it!
Why cant there be more people like you out in this world
What's the name of the bot?
it should be possible to do affiliating to a certain degree, such a bot should calculate percentages, content/link relation for example, as one part
