Introducing the Steemit Platform Switcher
Chrome Extension that lets you switch between platforms in 2 clicks!
I am sure most of you have heard of the following common and useful platforms: chainbb, steemd and steemdb. The official steemit.com platform of course provides a very good interface for general use, but sometimes some of us may want to switch to chainbb to look at the comments in a forum-styled view, or to check detailed statistics of a post on steemd orsteemdb.
(P.S. It seems that SteemDB and chainBB do not have any official logos. The logos shown above are designed by @stevenlwk)
A small trick
Switching between these 4 platforms is not a convenient task; I used to do a lot of clickings before I can arrive at the corresponding platform. But soon I discovered a slightly more convenient trick: you can just edit the domain of the URL of the current page to jump to any other platforms! (If you already knew this trick, you may skip to the next section)
For example, say I am browsing this post on steemit.com
Observe the following table to see the corresponding links on these platforms:, which has a URL https://steemit.com/contest/@kenchung/free-steem-mathematics-programming-competition-2-2017624t152846454z.
It is not difficult to discover that the only difference between the URLs is their domain names.
Our new tool
Using the little trick stated can save some time, but can still be quite annoying to change back and forth continuously. Thanks to the idea proposed by my friend @happychau123, we have developed a simple Chrome extension which makes platform switching just two clicks away! What the extension does is replacing the domain in the URL by your desired one. Now you have more time to create quality contents :)

How to use
- Click here to navigate to Chrome Web Store, press ADD TO CHROME.
- Press Add extension.
- Make sure this message pops up.
- Navigate to any steemit posts on any one of the 4 platforms.
- Click the extension button. A drop down list with the other 3 platforms will be shown.
- Choose the targeting platform from the drop down menu. Voila!

Known bugs
Some users reported abnormal behaviors of the extension. If you encounter a similar problem, try to switch to another tab and then switch back. This should solve most of the problems. We are working on it and will provide an update ASAP.

Oh my god! You are genius! How can you have such a great idea for doing it! I have faced the problem when I use the chainbb and the steemit. And you just simply solve my problem. Bravo!!! This is a very useful tool for us. I am using Firefox all the time, not for particular reasin, just because of my habit. I open tabs for different Steem platforms.

One Bug - Sometimes the menu of what to switch to is empty. I'm afraid that I haven't been able to find what reproduces the problem consistently though.
One Suggestion - SteemD and SteemDB both frequently lag (in fact, 21 hours later, your post still isn't in SteemDB). When a post isn't present yet, you should put up a comment that says that it hasn't been loaded yet -- a blank entry makes it look like it may be the switcher's fault.

I think the chance of the speed bottleneck happening in our script is low, it is just a very lightweight client side script. Does steemd happens to load faster if you directly access it?

Wow, thank you so much for contributing to the steem it community, i personally just use chainbb in esteem and havent tried using the other platforms, but based on how i felt about chainbb and esteem, i could kind of understand why there is the need of some more friendlier ways to help cope with the few platforms!!
