1 Understanding Viral Content

Viral content is meant to be brief and entertaining, or informative and shareable. For this reason one should ensure that the content they collect is short, summarized, and straight to the point. This is all due to the nature of your audiences' attention spans. They only have a second or two to view your content before their attention is grabbed by something else. People are constantly being pulled in several different directions when they're online. Therefore, make sure you take advantage of this fact.

2 Understanding Your Niche

Every successful steem blog can ensure that it caters to a certain niche, and not several parallel niches, which you see many bloggers attempting to do often times. This is what distinguishes the viral blog from the numerous other blogs on the platform. Your viral content should also be related to your niche in order maintain a consistent theme for your audience. If your posts are about cooking then ensure that your viral content is closely related to food.

3 Follow other Steem Blogs (No Brainer!)

Ensure that you keep an eye on active blogs. This will enable you to always be at par with what other people are sharing. Secondly, it will enable you to collect viral content from other blogs that you might have missed out on. You can also follow, comment, and of cource upvote blog posts outside your niche and get some inspiration for your own page (no brainer!).

4 Old magazines and Newspapers

There's a saying that nothing under the sun is original. Before the digital revolution people didn't have "social networks" to share 'viral content’. They had to do it the old-fashioned way and have it printed in the paper, or in a magazine. Go through some of the older forms of media, and you'll encounter tons and tons of amazing viral content that you can then share on your blog that noone else will ever have a clue about.

5 Go through Other Social Networks.

The viral content that is circulating on steemit is not the same stuff that is being shared on other networking platforms. This is why other networks such as twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, Snapchat and Pinterest are also great avenues for collecting viral content. JUST MAKE SURE YOU MAKE YOUR CONTENT ORIGINAL CONTENT! Just use other platforms for ideas to make your own spectacular posts on steemit. This will also keep you ahead of the herd as you'll always be one of the first to share new viral content.

6 Outsource

It is possible to outsource viral content from freelancing sites such as Freelancer and Fiverr. The only caviat with this method is that one has to pay for the content to be created. It is not advisable to use this technique unless your blog is bringing in enough STEEM to pay for the original content.

7 News Aggregation

Last but not least we have a technique that even Facebook itself uses. A news aggregator will basically alert you anytime new content is released. This works best when collecting content from websites and blogs. All one has to do is either create their own aggregator, or subscribe to one, such as rss aggregators. You will then instruct the aggregator on which sources you would like to track. The results will be displayed for you to choose which viral content you would like to share on your own fan page.

These are some simple and effective all-round techniques for collecting viral content that ensures you comb through all possible sources in a short while.

Well. hope these little 7 tips helps you create a viral blog and forge full STEEM ahead!

Thanks @apps. The same caution that you expressed about other social networks should also be used when searching newspapers and magazines. If you want to straight-up reprint the content, you have to ensure that it is no longer copyrighted. The protection period is shorter than it is for books (at least in the United States), but it can get tricky to determine, especially if you are from another country where the period may be longer or shorter. I suggest just using the content as a starting point and give it a full re-write and update it for modern times.

I totally agree. I use Dragon Anywhere on my mobile device to totally create brand new content from content that I gather. Of course, most people who curate content usually just link back to the source if they take a snippet from that content verbatim.
