Hunter's comment

Despite its many justified criticisms, Facebook is still a giant in the social media space with millions of users, and doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. But those who use it might have usability complaints, and as it turns out, there's a plugin for that!

The Social Fixer plugin has a feature set that you can pick and choose from to perform a variety of tasks, like hiding politics posts, filtering news feed by keyword, author or more, and being notified when you've been unfriended (drama drama!). Maybe you also don't want to see posts that you've already read - social fixer has a solution for that, too.

Interesting background - this started out as a GreaseMonkey script (which has been featured on SteemHunt before) before it became its own plugin.

I used Social Fixer on FB years ago, but then some platform changes caused me to uninstall it from my browser. Your updated info on the current version is encouraging me to give it a try again. Thanks for this hunt.

Pros:

  • Very advanced customization, I like that.
  • It is very safe to use, so it can be seen on the page.
  • It's very popular, so you can use it with confidence
  • Available for many browsers.
