What Is ChainBB?

ChainBB is described as an experimental forum built on top of the SteemSteem blockchain. It is uniquely styled to present content in a way that is analagous to the online forum format that many are accustomed to. It also has some unique advanced features not found elsewhere, such as an amazing voting tool, and the ability to set custom reward beneficiaries while posting. blockchain, brought to you by @jesta. A ton of work has been put into it to become yet another viable "front end" for the

In the last week, @jesta launched the ability for users to create their own forums, and is actively developing a more robust suite of services to make these forums into very successful community hubs.

What is the Steem Comic Convention?

The Steem Comic Convention is a community of comics and geeky pop culture enthusiasts on the Steem blockchain. It has launched before official community tools have become available in the hopes of getting a head start on building a vibrant, positive, and powerful group on Steem. The newly acquired forum furthers that goal and has every capability of continuing as a cornerstone of that community as new technologies and opportunities continue to be developed. For further reading you can check out earlier posts here and here which described some of the initial vision and fledgling steps of the SCC in greater detail.

The main purposes of the Steem Comic Convention are driving engagement between enthusiasts, improving discoverability of quality content, recruiting new members, and ultimately adding value to everyone involved.

The SCC consists of a dedicated website currently under development at www.steemcomicconvention.com, the new forum, and any forthcoming community tools released to the Steem blockchain.

How Can I, and Why Should I Get Involved With the Steem Comic Convention Forum?

The forum can be accessed at https://chainbb.com/f/steemcomiccon

Simply log in with your existing Steem account and your private posting key. This is a very common and safe way of interacting with other sites, as it gives the ability to write, vote, and comment, but does not give any access to funds or control of the account. Again, use only your private posting key which can be found in your Steem wallet - never give your owner key or master password!

In order for a new forum "thread" to be created, it must be posted through the forum itself. That thread can then be replied to and discussion ensues! Be aware that these "top level" posts will display as posts on your Steemit account as well, likewise on other sites such as Busy.org. Replies however are simply comments to that top level post and will appear as such in your activity logs.

The forum does support some moderation as well. The Steem Comic Convention will hide content from display at its discretion. Content cannot be deleted, as it follows the same blockchain rules as everything on Steem, but it can be hidden from the forum itself. A formal code of conduct may be developed in the future, but moderation will certainly occur in cases of off topic material, spam, plagiarism, and harassment. The Steem Comic Convention is meant to be a fun, relaxed and inclusive community!

Like many Steem services that have launched, the ChainBB forum system does take a split of post rewards to fund further development and as a sort of subscription fee to cover the service and hosting involved. This is currently set at 15% with a variable amount going to either ChainBB or the Steem Comic Convention itself based on the activity level of the forum.

The Steem Comic Convention will utilize gathered Steem to fund development, outreach initiatives, contests, prizes, and giveaways, and to reward community members and contributors through upvotes. Though the @steem-comic-con account is new, it will be initially boosted by a delegation from @bryan-imhoff to get the ball rolling! @steem-comic-con will not function as a bot, it will be manually curating, currently controlled by @bryan-imhoff and later by other trusted moderators and curators as the Convention grows.

yessssss!!!! finally!

This is awesome! Thank you for all the hard work @steem-comic-con! One question. Will posts here show up on our personal Steemit timelines? I have a friend that works on the dev team that mentioned a future update will allow posts to be hidden through third party apps and forums, but it wouldn’t be implemented for a while. Just curious because most of my blog is long form and I wouldn’t want a brief one paragraph post about Batman to show up amogst the posts that take me hours. Thanks so much. Great work!

It's my understanding that it will only appear in your blog elsewhere if you create a new forum thread, because that generates a new top level post. If you interact with existing forum threads, then those are all comments that will not impact your blog feed elsewhere, they'll just show up in your comment and reply activity.

This is all new territory so I'm hoping we can explore the pros and cons together and find great ways to use these tools! Thanks so much for your support and enthusiasm!

Sounds great. I'm a big fan of the SupaNova events they have at the Gold Coast and Brisbane, Australia. I like to dress up as different characters mostly superheros.

Love to see what this forum has to offer

I like the idea of supporting the geekdom community.

Awesome!! :) Count me in! ^^

I have a hard time keeping up with all the new things you and other (like @kommienezuspadt) are doing, but I will look at it tomorrow.

fantastic work!
