What's wrong with a lie?

in #steemchurch5 years ago

What's wrong with a lie? "It was for a good cause"; "I had no other choice"; "It was to protect the person"; "It would have been much worse if he had told the truth." The day of the lie is not an invitation to lie, but to reflect on its relationship with the Truth.

How many apologies are presented to sustain the little lies of day to day! With so many excuses, maybe we even agree that, after all, lying is not something so serious.

Are there not those who "lie that they do not even feel"? This is the result of getting used to the lies with such a sin of esteem. But, if we believe that "Jesus is the way, the TRUTH and the life", what prevents us from acting according to what we say we believe?

Have you lied today? To be honest. Has any distorted, exaggerated or misleading information passed on the Internet or in the medium in which it coexists? Have you signed the point out of time? How many apologies have you given for delays, small infractions? And when the lie is meant to prevent someone from being disappointed or hurting you? But how does the lie enter our lives? How do we learn to lie?

Let's definitely lie aside

Some questions are useful to definitively leave the lie aside. In your family, is there a habit of justifying things with little lies? When someone calls their mother and she does not want to answer, how did she respond to who she called? What guided you to talk? Well, they are those little lies, learned many times even in family, in the orientation of parents to children, or in their model that form the basis of the habit of lying. A habit that the parents themselves establish, although not wanting.

Perhaps it is possible to perceive, with a little honesty, when evaluating the situations in which we lie, that many times this happens because we do not know how to do the right thing. But is it an excuse to not try to improve? And if we set out to improve, the path is one: learning to always speak the truth, however difficult it may be. I heard, once, a lady saying that "the truth, when it is said with tenderness, never harms anyone".

The lie of the failures

The lie serves to cover up the failures. Failure that we experience when we err, when we opt for "evil", when we justify our inconsistencies, when we fail to do the good that we would like (Cf. Rm 7, 19), when we can not express clearly, objectively and directly what We feel, what we think, what we expect, what we would like. How many times do we run away from embarrassing situations by saying they are busy, tired or sick? How many times was it necessary to resort to lies to hide our difficulty in saying "no"?

Being sincere seems to be more difficult, exposes us more. If you know the joy of a transparent relationship with certainty, choose to assume its weaknesses and difficulties. Lies "white" or "black", "light" or "heavy". No matter. If you want to look for life, you have to look for the truth. This is the search that opens the doors to discover what is best in us, and often unknown: the gifts that have been graced to us, with them, deal with all difficulties (tenderness, patience, softness, etc. .). We can no longer be conniving with the lie.

You have to find the truth

The main problem for the liar is the refusal to recognize a liar. So, maybe it's time to review the initial questions. Identify the lies in your life, identify the lies you live. The lies that you tell for yourself. Think about the causes, but mainly assume your responsibility for a conversion, for a change. Observe. Identify the lies. Analyze the reason, the difficulty in committing to the truth in that situation. Then propose to face this difficulty.

Certainly sister, In the same way honesty is to harmonize words with facts, it is to have identity and coherence to be proud of oneself.
