Anyone who is here for a short while soon realizes that we are very early in this game. Blockchain technology, while revolutionary, is still very young. Over the next 5 years, we are going to see advancements that will make the world a much different place. Fortunately, due to the nature of decentralization, we have a chance to see the masses freed from the enslaving entities that are at the top of the power structure.
By the same token, we have Steemit which is still less than two years old. This is a platform that is starting to take off which will benefit all of us on here. It is the flagship application in this ecosystem yet not the only one. We have D.Tube, Zappl, and Steepshot to name a few. Each of these is progressing towards the point of being serious challengers to the traditional social media apps.
We are all part of an ecosystem called STEEM. Through our input and interaction here, we have the opportunity to lay a foundation that is starting to look like it will have a major impact upon society. Yesterday, I wrote an article about how this blockchain is already ahead of the others and has a chance to separate itself even further over the next year.
You can read that here if you missed it:
As strong as the blockchain is, what makes STEEM so powerful is the community that is building here. The reward system is constructed in such a way that it requires all of us to succeed. No one person can do it alone. There are many who come on here full of selfishness and greed. While some slip through the cracks, the simple truth is those are the minority. Most on here are concerned about others and the ecosystem in general. Sure, we all want to make money to give ourselves better lives. However, that only comes through helping others. Givers get and our success is tied to that of others.
That said, we still need more help on this blockchain. Presently we are sitting at a sweet spot where people have the potential to make some nice rewards since the price of STEEM (and SBD) increased. Fortunately, that increased outpaced the increase in users meaning people are getting a very nice bump in their payouts. It is hard to tell how things will be in the future yet we can expect a significant increase in users which should alter the distribution of the reward pool. We also expect the prices to increase as the blockchain gets more active yet there are no guarantees.
For that reason, one of the first thing we need people to do is to power up as much as they can. Moving STEEM to SP is an investment in this ecosystem. Even if one is not buying STEEM with fiat, using the reward pool to increase one's standing helps everyone. Each upvote is increased giving a larger payout not only to oneself, but also to everyone he or she upvotes. With the anticipated heights that the STEEM token will reach, it isn't going to take a lot of SP for someone to be well off. Therefore, my belief is that we increase our SP in an effort to help others.
Another thing we need is each person's talent. All of us have skills, experiences, and hopes. It is imperative that we do all we can on here to share them. If one is from the technical perspective, knowing coding and programming, Utopian.io is a great place. One of the most critical aspects of this blockchain over the next couple years is going to be the development that takes place. We need everyone who has these skills to create and contribute. By continued innovation from all types of people, that is how we prevent becoming another MySpace.
If you are not from that perspective, have no fear. There is a place for you also. The basic Steemit program is very simple: post, comment, and upvote. This is something each of us can do on a daily basis. It does require effort and dedication to achieve fabulous heights on here yet it is possible. By interacting with others, we establish a following which enables us all to help each other. The key to this is consistency. By showing up each day, others are able to count on us.
STEEM looks like a nice car until you start to get under the hood and really see what is going on. It is not an easy thing to grasp, in fact it takes time for it to truly reveal itself. My suggestion to each new person is to get involved especially via commenting. This site is sorely in need of more comments so anyone can spend time leaving 10-20 quality comments a day. Since you are reading an article or watching a video anyway, why not give a comment discussing your views of what you read/watched. This feedback is paramount to starting "conversations".
As you delve deeper into the ecosystem that is known as STEEM, you will realize that this is like nothing you ever encountered. Few of us truly experience being on the path to greatness from the standpoint of altering humanity. STEEM is providing us that vehicle. We have the ability to shape the wealth distribution across the world. Whales and Orcas can provide food for a family for a month in some areas with a single upvote. That is powerful. At the same time, we can learn to interact with each other the way nature intended, in a caring and compassionate way. There is no need to behave like so many do on Facebook and other social media sites. If one prefers that misery, those sites are still there for them. STEEM is about elevating ourselves and the entire human race.
STEEM is about hope. No matter what your present circumstances, if you get started today, I can promise you, with commitment and daily effort, your life will be different 3 months from now. I certainly hope everyone reading these words takes them to heart because there is another side to this: STEEM needs each and every one of you. This ecosystem needs newer people to continue growing. We cannot make the impact that is possible with 60K daily users and 30K authors. Yes, we could make a nice bit of income if things stayed the same yet it is not about the money. At a certain point, one moves past that. Something bigger is taking place here.
From time-to-time we see envy and fear creep in which causes actions that are less than desirable. We need to remember that each person's input if valuable. At the same time, we do not always know about the contributions of others. There are plenty on here, who do not see to be around much, only to come and find out they are creators of some of the apps we use on a daily basis (or had a hand in them). We need to approach all with this mindset.
To truly get the most out of STEEM, it needs to be a part of you. I know this might sound wishy washy to some of you but it is true. We are in the age of abundance whereby the Internet decided to enter the world of finance (money). Being the grand copy machine that it is, the Internet is already multiplying money at an unrecognizable rate. I was talking to my boss about Bitcoin last week and I told him that I wouldn't put money into it because I thought, while it could go up, I only foresee a triple in it. He about chocked when I said that. Simply put, he couldn't believe that I thought a 300% gain in one year was something to pass up. Welcome to the world of cryptocurrency where the Internet makes what is normal in other areas look very small.
Take it upon yourself to become an important member on here. How do you do that? By being as active as possible and helping as many as you can. When you start to move upward in terms of your SP, yes it makes you more money. However, that is the last thing that ends up on your mind. For me, the payoff of having a fair bit of SP is when I give a decent-sized vote to a new person or one from a third world country. We never know the impact of what our words or our actions will do. Giving someone a couple bucks, fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things in the West, could be a life saver for someone from a country where poverty doesn't mean food stamps and housing voucher. There are some on here who live under true poverty and we can help those people.
Getting active will lead you to your niche. When I started here 5 months ago, I was writing about technology and some of the advancements there. I am what they call a technologist or a futurist. I follow major (and minor) trends in technology in an effort to determine what the future could look like. However, after a couple months, I realized that people were succumbing to the negativity that was common on here at the time, mostly due to the price action. I was baffled that people did not see what was going on.
My point is that I took it upon myself to start to research deeper what is taking place and write about it. I repeatedly tell people to ignore the price action, that is not the story. What is the story is the blockchain and the people on it. And even when the price of STEEM is going down, those two aspects of this ecosystem are bullish.
The greatest joy I had since I started here was the handful of comments that were left in my posts written by people who said they would have left this site if not for my writings. It was my outlook and relaying to them what was going on that kept them here. Some are good at getting people to this site; at times we need a few of us working to keep people here. That decision to stay, I can assure you, is life changing. Those people will benefit more than they can imagine. It would be sad if they allowed the actions of a few others to drive them away and deprive them of all this place has to offer.
As they say, the future is bright. I know a lot of this can sound like fluff and pie-in-the-sky stuff. If you feel that way reading these words, do me a favor. Bookmark this post and do what I suggest: give this an earnest go for 90 days. I bet after that time, these words will not seem like fluff.
There is an opportunity before us. To achieve the end that we all desire, it is going to take the efforts and talents of each person. Nobody is insignificant and no contribution too small. Everything that you do positive on the blockchain matters. That post you wrote which received no upvotes still adds another page to this site which helps in the search engines. While it might not directly benefit you, each action helps the ecosystem, which, in turn, helps you.
And that is the other thing you learn about on this blockchain: everything is a circle. Anything you put out literally will come back to you. We cannot escape this. It is through helping others and adding to this ecosystem that we profit ourselves. This is a radical departure from the hierarchical system the banksters have us operating under which mostly benefits those above us.
In closing, I guess I could say, welcome to the Twilight Zone.

It's funny... today I woke up to see both SBD and Steem low and I went to Steemit to find half of the community speaking about exit strategies and antecipating that Steemit is dying and on its deathbed... or the other way around.
Interesting to see how half of the world thinks one thing, the other half another... but they both have valid reasons.
To me, it is not fluff at all because every word on this print has benefited me immensely. It is a self-less system where we need each other. We need each other in posts, in upvotes and comments. Even if your post doesn't earn much, especially as it is for newbies, interaction with steemit 'family' would go a long way in settling one comfortably. Yes, hope is kept alive always on your blog. See you around in 90 days😉
You certainly will see me around in 90 days. In fact, I will see you tomorrow when I post more....
Thank you, as always for your kind words.
You are welcome sir
I don't think steemit is made for this, I think we need healthy competition. I am here since 6 months and I am making good money but I don't think steemit is meant only for money. Healthy competition is lacking now. I don't know even it is a problem in your country but I know it is a huge problem here and when I try to explain their response will be like, "We don't care, if bots are giving us money then it is great" and someone like steemit gurus suggest them to do so showing their own example.
I have written a post explaining whole thing please if you have time read my post !Great post as always @taskmaster4450 ! But I am pretty disappointed with steemit nowadays. Before 1 week I was very pleased to be here then I knew something. The bots are upvoting someones post who are sending them SBD which is making good money to some carp post. Many people (specially from my country) are taking steemit like a bitcoin faucets, you invest some SBD and boost your posts using bots and get profit from it and as the matter of fact they are earning decent amount of money than an original creator.
https://steemit.com/steemit/@pathi/the-rival-of-steemit
And there is a limit to what the bots will provide....it most likely wont get them to the upper levels of posts.
And even if it does, so what....you need to focus upon contribution...it is not a competition but a cooperation.
As time goes by, it is possible those people reap what they sow....with enough people with our mindset, those people could be shunned. It is a matter of contribution not taking.
But in the communities of my country everyone is talking about bots and money, which bot is the best how to earn more money and they are succeeding and I don't think this is good at all for this community. I think we can jointly create some good bot like steemcleaner and downvote all the posts upvoted by those bots. What do you think of it ?
It's ironic you have this post today- yesterday in my main Discord community someone brought up the discussion of talents and skills.
One person may know this, but wants to learn that and vice versa. So we are trying to come up with a plan of action on how to support each other's needs.
We already have a mentoring program for members (to which I am a mentor and helping others get settled into his or her own rhythm on steemit) there and this new "teach me, I'll teach you" discussion is something that I think every community or group could instill.
Very good @goldendawn. There are so many ways to give back here....even if one just posts comments all day long. The possibilities are endless.
The main thing is to keep focusing upon improving or adding to the blockchain. Every activity does that. Helping others is paramount since it multiplies the number of people touched which is what @fulltimegeek did.
Really awesome initiative @goldendawne ❤ i have been getting comfy here for 78 or so days. But, full time only since christmas (my gift to myself - stepped away from fb, jumped into steemit. What fun it has been!!) But, haven't been brave enough to dive into discord....yet. Maybe, i will venture there to see you soon. Just trying to get a groove in this-- I will agree with you here @taskmaster4450 very very very exciting new beginning ❤ i really appreciate your encouraging and enthusiastic posts. Thank-you for sharing!!
I would highly recommend checking out Discord. SO many great groups and communities and VERY supportive members. It definitely helps and assists when you're new to steemit
Ahhhh!!!! I will. Thank-you @goldendawne this can all be so much at times ❤
The contrast between what I read here and what happens in the "real" world is pretty big. If we manage to grow into a huge community our impact on how people think will be incredible which will lead to a virtuous circle of good influence on others.
Yes it is...however, in the "real" world, the one set up by banksters, all activity by the masses ends up flowing up....those at the top profit the most.
Here it isnt that way...what one puts out in terms of upvotes comes back...when one posts an article, his or her compensation is dependent upon the others on here. Selfish people, might gain some following but it will not last long.
It is as if the system is set up in such a way to make that so.
@taskmaster4450 - Steemit and other crypto has caused a change of career for me. I'm taking a cryptocurrency course with @ivanli to get up to speed with this platform. My background has been in the area of application and web development for the past 20+ years.
I first invested in bitcoin almost a year ago and read the Satoshi Nakamoto white paper a short while later and it upended everything. I am looking into developing a delegated proof of justice political model that will replace central authority once the equity drain collapses national fiat all over the world. I'm looking at the Steem blockchain witness model as a way to replace congress.
That is awesome @zoidsoft. I wish I had that background. Alas, I am not inclined in that way hence I write articles in the manner that I do....that is my contribution.
I would love to chat with you about some of your vision with regards to government replacement....I believe blockchain will destroy that entity just like the banksters. None of them have a chance against blockchain.
Hit my up on steemit.chat if you want.
Not quite sure how to use Steemit chat, only been there once right after I signed up.
@zoidsoft have you looked into Aragon at all? If not, check out their whitepaper. I bet you could find some useful inspiration! https://aragon.one/
So yeah why not I am into your campaign @taskmaster4450. I am not a developer nor I don't have anything to share in utopian at all. But I found joy using steemit as a way of story telling in our local language. I dream't of having my own short story published ages ago (literally years) but I never had any feedback or sort when someone read it.
But through steemit I got a boost and got like almost 3 to 4 readers waiting for my update every single day and that is really an achievement for me. My work was also recommended by someone worth reading and it really brought tears on my eyes. I think all of us will definitely find our place here in steemit and we just really need to be patient and hone our crafts.
All the best!
Amazing post as always! I agree that we need more people joining in, more authors to contribute towards growing steemit. We must all take action if we want to see steemit being the biggest thing on the internet. The rewards are really a complimentary thing, because steemit is not all about rewards. Of course, everyone joins for the money part, but most will stay for the amazing community we have here so far. The prices really don't matter and it shouldn't scare anyone when they decrease by a certain amount. I joined 6 months ago and every time the price starts falling down, a lot of users start to panic and leave steemit, because they lose hope (especially new users). When I just joined I was also afraid when I saw the prices go down for the first time, but I was absolutely new to cryptos and I didn't know how they really work. Now, even if steem went back to 1$, I'd still stay calm and stay active here, because I want to see steemit grow and I'm going to be here to witness that happening! :)
Honestly, I would love STEEM to go back to $1...I would be buying it in buckets.
You are right @trendo, most come here for the money but stay for the community. We are seeing impressive growth and it will be interesting to see if people start to bail on this pullback. The daily users seem to be getting stronger which could result in it being less than in the past. I, along with others, keep espousing the idea of not worrying about price action....that is going to happen no matter what. It will go up and down....
It is the platform that one needs to look at...what is going on with the posting, commenting, and development.
Yeah, I think steem has proven to have huge potential when it reached new highs in terms of price. If it went down to 1$ it would be the best time to power up some steem. But who knows, we might never ever see steem at 1$ anymore, because it's doing so great.
No matter what happens with the price though, the future is very bright!
I dont think we see $1 STEEM again......I put $4 as the floor at this point...if even that low.
Of course, a big crypto pullback could do that but I dont see STEEM collapsing on its own.
Too much already going on to warrant pricing in this neighborhood. Each day more people are exposed to crypto and blockchain which will only help. And, hopefully, each day the developers are creating something new or making improvements to the existing apps.
We should see D.Tube and Zappl really pull some people in when those platforms gets their apps working flawlessly.
This is a great article. Every time I read your article, I charge myself with a huge charge of faith in a beautiful future for Steem. Good luck to you and good.
very nice one @taskmaster4450.
"Another thing we need is each person's talent. All of us have skills, experiences, and hopes."
Yes! And we need to tell new people straight away they should use their skills and find their niche. We don't need the 2000th repeater of bitcoin prizes, but we need what each person has to offer in true competences.
But the development of this community depends on collective efforts. less attention should be focus on the reward and more attention be focused on how we can contribute our own quota towards keeping this community growing because steem and steemit is the positive future we have been waiting for and the sustainability of this depends on us.Thanks @taskmaster4450 for this elaborate expression of #steem ecosystem. #steemit has come to change lives and rewrite stories of many.
The future is here! And it's looking bright for the little guys and gals. I'm new here and I'm still trying to figure out if this place is a dream.
I have an optimist outlook for the future and I think steemit is going to be a vital place for all of us to share our passions. And to encourage others with their passions!
Thank you for your well written post!
There is a good reason for an optimistic outlook of the future...it is bright. There are so many technologies coming down the road that will really revolutionize things.
We are glad you made it @jeremiahsvaren. You are doing the right thing by getting involved with commenting...it will serve you well.
It takes a while to figure this place out but you are correct, it is wonderful.
@taskmaster4450, thanks for another inspiring post. I took some time to upvote this because I wanted to sell some SBD for STEEM and power it up before voting. I've only been here about 3 months and so far have done pretty well, but to your point about commenting, I need to do a better job of building relationships on this platform. I guess that will be a goal of mine for the new year, to comment more and to help new users with upvotes (even though my vote isn't worth much). Thanks again, I love reading your blog!
Very very great post on the possible future of steem and the way it could be part of the revolution taking place through cryptocurrencies over the next years. I can just agree with you on basically everything you mention above but especially on the point of the contribution to this ecosystem.
Luckily we got some awesome developers standing behind projects & frontends to the Blockchain just like Utopian.io, D.Tube or busy.org and those are just the biggest ones to be named.
But like you mention, people don´t need to be developers to contribute to the growth of steem. You can as well be a great content creator or a reader and commenter. There´s a space for everyone on here as well as the possibility to earn some money!
Yes and I believe the money will grow astronomically, at least in terms of dollars. We have not even scratched the surface of where this can go. I believe that we are going to be looking at things a lot differently come April. There will be a lot of changes during the first quarter which should make us all happy.
It is key to not only get people here but to help them become involved and succeed. That is crucial. People talk about retention rates for a reason....it is worthless for someone to come here, get frustrated and leave. It will happen but we should try to keep it down as much as we can.
With more talent people here, we can create more value for everyone, not just for them, but also for the people who read articles and get inspired for them.Amazing @taskmaster4450. Steem ecossystem really need more people with more talent, since this is a system that provides profit for content.
Wondering to to reading this awesome blog where have mention about steem future perspective, this ecosystem are really helpful for world citizenship, obviously your speech will be fully proved in future couple years, just need to steem talent guy for great growing steempower, not be frustrated we are connected here, you need to select our talent from your great realization @taskmaster4450
Blockchain is the world's leading software platform for digital assets. Offering the largest production block chain platform in the world, we are using new technology to build a radically better financial system. Analyze..
Thanks for this information.....
I couldn't agree more. I think steem has an amazing future but it is going to take work. I honestly started my steem account bc I saw dollar signs. But now that I have been on here a week I have made new friends and learned so much. We all need to get the word out and we will all reap the rewards.
thanks for your compliment.i agree with you...
if you want i will join you...
i really praise for your sweet post.
thank you so much.i am with you..
thanks for sharing...
"prevent becoming another MySpace", ahhhh! ... scary morning thoughts ! (-:
Inspiring again! My new years' resolution was to get a better understanding of how I spend my time, so from the timer app I've been using the past 10 days I know I'm spending 6-7 hours on Steemit every day - it's a lot, but I believe if I invest my time I will be able to be part of the huge thing Steemit will become! Thanks for motivating others and keep up the good work :-)
Thanks taskmaster for this great article! Everyone of us is different in creating content in its unique way. After discovering Steemit, I felt my passion for writing had come alive knowing that we will be rewarded for great content. I am blessed to be able to contribute to this positivity and I will never let that take away from me. Upvoted and Resteemed!
This is amazing article and very informative for newcomer like me. it helped me a lot to understand about steem and blockchain. Thanks and congrats for nice well written article.
Steem didn'tjust need you to come and see it as your ATM machine, but as a long-term investment.
Steem will be burst aggressively should to helpful with our others, steem ecosystem and decentralization are mainly help as evenly, so be stay connected with this platform @taskmaster4450
as a newbie in steemit, this article very helpful to me to understand what steemit is. Nice @taskmaster4450
Thank you very much for sharing
Thanks so much for putting time and effort into writing this piece! It's day 2 on steam for me and it was exactly what I needed. Diving into the crypto blockchain world is daunting, especially for someone like me with a passion for technology but an education in the humanities. So finding such an amazingly supportive and social community like steemit filled with people like yourself who are willing to teach newcomers with positivity and without pretension was amazing. This post boosted my confidence in the value of my voice and the talents I can contribute to the steemit community. I would not have wrote a comment as open and honest as this without it. Thanks again for the inspiration and awesome information!
The site has a more than wonderful future

Thanks for the great post! I have been thinking about doing a crowdfund to create a Steemit marketing campaign.. Now I am not that popular on Steemit but if you would be interested in helping with a crowdfund we could get lots of different advertising going To Help build the community. Let me know!
I need steemit
Much obliged for sharing your and disscuss about steem.
ya steem need us but with good content.
through your postIt certainly is the twilight zone! A very bright version of it too. I'm a big fan of your perspective here @taskmaster4450. I also agree that commenting and helping others is the best way to contribute to this site and your own success. I actually discovered you that was promoted by @jerrybanfield yesterday. It came at good timing as I've received a challenge from the universe: find new ways to make an income OR be homeless! As much as it sucks to be low on cash, at the same time, I always see it as an incredible opportunity to explore new ways of living. Steemit has absolutely opened my eyes to that and on Dec 1st I committed to being on here every day, sharing my best content, and interacting with others on here as much as possible. It's been a truly rewarding experience and I'm really excited to see where this platform goes, 6 - 12 - 24 months from now.
Thank you for sharing your grounded, optimistic, and inspiring words @taskmaster4450. From a minnow who is really going for it on here...it's TRULY appreciated.
Cheers!
I have been disappointed over the past few days due to bandwidth issues (not nine) affecting some services I use and thus taking money away from me because of lost curation. Even so, I wouldn't consider leaving Steem. This thing is the bees knees.
It has put quite a bit of hope for the future in my life and that is something I was lacking before. I'm Steem Believer. I ain't going anywhere.
I do appreciate your posts. Though I haven't thought of leaving, they help to refocus me. I have been burdened by negativity all my life and your posts snap me out of it every time. Thanks.
20 or 30 comments a day?!?! Looks like I need to step up my game!
Thanks for the post.
Keep Steeming!
This is an amazing post! I am definitely looking forward to moving through the site, interacting with new people, and at the end of the day, I really appreciate being accepted into what feels like a beautiful community. I can find more likeminded people. I have a feeling this will keep me inspired. I like the idea of sticking to it for 90 days, and will do my best to do so. Thank you for sharing your mind~
great
Steemit is a very clean, elegant, very strong platform. Eligibility to work here is very important. Very nice post, thanks for sharing it with us.
I think steemit is great , I like this news @taskmaster4450
Fuck yeah, Steemit is going to the moon, believe it. It might not be money that takes us there, but willpower and community! Let us wish for both though, so that we can create a reality where people are rewarded for living in a positive way, and that so we can open many doors for others!
