Nice to see that the steemit users are also actively participating in the blockchain community and hold the steemit flag up there in order for all to see and maybe adhere. While probably all is at its beginning on the long term these conferences will be common when technology would have matured itself. And, truly, what can be better than a technology made for the people and hold and sustained by the people. This is the recipe of the success in my opinion.

@nanzo-scoop - it is true that most of India is yet to wake up to cryptocurrency, but in the past 2 months bitcoin is getting a lot of attention in Financial news channels, and in general more and more people are getting into it.. There aren't enough bitcoin exchanges in India and BTC prices in India are also at a 12-15% premium when purchasing from there..
PS: On an off-note, India's the second most populated nation, not the first - that title goes to China (though in another 10 years India is going to wrest that title - not something to be proud of anyway) :)
In India it is really difficult to buy bitcoin. I am trying to get my account verified on Zebpay since last 10 days and it gets rejected citing one reason or another. I am hoping atleast now it gets verified with in this 3-4 days. Since the price of bitcoin is now low, i would love to buy some bitcoin for myself.
Agree, to get those on 'lurking' around to be actively involve is difficult task, but in crypto world always FOMO would be driving ppl into it, that applies for me as well, started to comment here and there after seing the SBD spike... Eventually this FOMO would be catching the 'Lurking' around as well, and they would be starting to be actively involve as well..

Good to see a post on my country is trending. Here in India there are lot of people who know about bitcoin. Most of these people who know still consider it a scam. Some of them don't invest because they think it is illegal here in our country. I have heard many saying that it is illegal. In reality it is not illegal, but not a legal tender for buying any thing here. Actually this is what bitcoin or altcoin really are. They are decentralized currencies not controlled by government.
That is awesome you went to the conference and you are right, it's still in its infancy. Great write up and I bet it was a really cool experience. You area great ambassador to Steem!

I have plans to go to West Africa next year and no doubt we also see similar confereces in East Africa also. Small steps but we'll get there!
