1st Steem Saturday venue in JHB is finalized...

in #steem-saturday8 years ago

A couple of weeks ago @Jacor was proud to announce that the first Steem Saturday will be held on 29 October 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

We are now at the stage where we have finalized and booked the venues and the speaker’s list will be completed shortly.

The first Steem Saturday event will be held at the Indaba hotel and conference venue in Fourways, JHB.

Not too far out... with a nice rustic feel and they know how to lay out a spread…

There is also a nice spot booked for us to wind down after all the serious stuff…

Thanks again to @ned for supporting us by flying out to South Africa to join us at this first event. Ned will be doing the Opening and Closing Keynote presentations at the event and will be available at the event for some questions that anybody may have.

The mission of Steem Saturday:

The Steem Saturday event is open to anybody to arrange in their City or region. Our aim is in time to have one Steem Saturday event each Saturday somewhere in the world. Please volunteer for arranging the event in your city or area, by contacting by Direct Message on Steemit Chat using the @jacor handle. We will support and guide you when arranging the event. It will not cost you money, only a bit of your time.

The event will be sponsor funded. Trust me it is very easy to get sponsors for these events as the blockchain and crypto currency are taking the world by storm.

Our current event will be limited to 100 - 120 attendees and it will be free to register and attend

Website

We are in the process of going live with a website, which will not only be used for this specific event, but it is open for use by any individual who wants to arrange an event in their city. Due to the short timeframes before the first event it will be a very basic site but we will add functionality as we grow the Steem Saturday events throughout the world.

The basic functionality will be as follow:

Event Registration

You will be able to add a Date for your event and add an image for your city or area.

Event Agenda and Speakers

You will be able to create your Agenda specific for the event, and add a list of your Speakers.

User Registration

End Users and attendees will be able to register for the event and receive and e-ticket for display at the venue on the day of the event.

On the day of the event

Attendees will get nametags for the day and enjoy the day at the event.

As you can see the website will be very basic. The initial website will be built on old tech like windows C# or Java, from where we will rebuild the functionality on the blockchain :)

Back to the event for 29 October 2016

We are still awaiting for confirmation on some of the speakers of the event, but can confirm the Agenda is as follows:

07:30 - 08:00 Attendee Registration and Coffee
08:00 - 08:45 Opening Keynote (Ned Scott)

09:30 -10:15 Speaking Slot 2
10:15 -11:00 Speaking Slot 3
11:00 -11:40 Speaking Slot 4
11:40 -12:15 Speaking Slot 5
12:30 Closing Keynote and questions (Ned Scott) 08:45 - 09:30 First Speaking Slot (@Gavvet - One of the first South Africans on the Steemit platforms and currently holds the Number 1 Reputation Rank on the Steemit platform)

13:30 onward Steem Saturday Drinks (Sponsored)

Please watch this space. We will be updating you frequently, the finalized speakers list and topics will be next. I urge everyone to consider arranging an event in your region / city. It does not take that much time to arrange.

Thanks again to @ned for confirming his attendance. We promise that you will have an excellent time in South Africa and it will be a worthwhile trip.

Hi everyone, My name is Bennie. I want to find out how I can get involved. I want to spread the word because I see the possibilities of the crypto-industry. I have been poisoned by a degree in economics but I think it helped me open my eyes to the ridiculousness of the current financial "religion" and the possibilities of the new system. I realize that regardless of what anyone does, the financial norm and therefore politics are changing because of the intrinsic connection of these schools of thought. I am still fairly new at this but have been doing my research. I am looking for the best and up-to-date info I can find. I realize that the industry is constantly growing and adapting as I write. Please contact me at Bennie2frames@gmail.com. I want to be involved in the community and up to date with the trend. My current focus of research is Bitcoin, Ethereum, Steemit, other cryptocurrencies and the internet of money. I follow every word of Andreas Antonopoulos, Crypt0 and every bit of info I can find online. Please guide me in the right direction so that I can educate the people around me and so play my part in this exiting transition. Thank you.
