Sebaliknya, MU datang ke Villa Park dengan penuh percaya diri. MU melewati 16 pertandingan tanpa kekalahan dan selalu menang di tiga laga sebelumnya melawan Sheffield (3-0), Brighton (3-0) dan Bournemouth (5-2). Selain itu, Aston Villa tak pernah kalah melawan Aston villa dalam 20 kali pertemuan mereka di seluruh kompetisi. Tentu ini bukan kabar baik bagi Aston Villa.
