Manchester City’s wage bill has increased by £61.8 million since Pep Guardiola was appointed manager, but the club are still paying their players less than Manchester United.

The Premier League champions announced record revenues of £500.5 million this afternoon, meaning they are the only British football club other than United to have turned over more than £500 million in one year.

Sponsorship deals with Tinder, Gatorade and Marathonbet have boosted revenues, which have increased by an impressive 44 per cent over the past five years. For the fourth consecutive season, City reported a profit, this time of £10.4 million.

The club’s wage bill has risen from £243.8 million to £259.4 million over the last 12 months.
