Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar, and Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi top list of Europe’s most valuable footballers. Meanwhile, no Real Madrid player is in the top 20 list compiled.
The survey was conducted on Monday by the CIES Football Observatory.
CIES conducted a new study to identify the most expensive stars across the top five European leagues.
Neymar tops the list and just behind him is Lionel Messi who is widely regarded as the greatest footballer ever and they followed by Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur and Kylian Mbappe of PSG.
Virgil van Dijk’s £75m switch from Southampton to Liverpool is the second most expensive this transfer window and that fee was inflated following Neymar’s record-breaking move to PSG last summer for around £200m.
Paulo Dybala (€175m) heads the Serie A rankings, while Robert Lewandowski (€107m) has the greatest figure for German Bundesliga players.
Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi is ranked the 51st most valuable player in Europe at €77.4m.
Cristiano Ronaldo finds himself in 49th position with a value of €80.4m.
Phil Coutinho’s move this January is the second most expensive ever.
