A Tour of the Official Splinterlands Wiki
The most important tool for new players just starting out is the official Splinterlands Wiki. It’s time for a tour! In this post I’ll show you the content that I think is most useful for new players.
First a quick introduction
Hello there, I'm homesteadhacker. In my free time when I’m not busy hanging out with my daughter, tending to the homestead, or roasting coffee, you can often find me playing Splinterlands. I haven’t been around that long (joined in March 2021) but I have taken my lumps and learned a lot about Splinterlands and the Hive ecosystem. The Splinterlands community is the best I’ve found in many years of guilds and online gaming-- so many wonderful people, and I learn something new every day from them.
Let's start from the beginning

If this is your first visit to the wiki, check out the About section, then dig into the Getting Started Guides. There is a short introduction video there, along with information about creating an account and getting started in the game.
Before you leave, make sure to check out the very last link on the Getting Started Guides page, which explains the basic gameplay:

Abilities
When I was first starting out, I found it helpful to always have the Abilities page open in another browser tab while I played.
This is a great tool to quickly visually reference the ability icons on the monster cards, so you aren't trying to figure out what they mean while the 2 minute timer is counting down. No one needs that stress!
Rule Sets
Another reference that I always had up on another browser tab is the Rule Sets.
Once you get into bronze, games will have rule sets that change the basic rules of the game in some interesting ways that force you to change your strategy. Again, you don't want to be fumbling around figuring out what the ruleset means while the clock is ticking down!
Find more details on Summoners and Monsters with Search
When I wanted to find more details on a summoner or monster, instead of going through the menus I found it easiest to use the search feature:
Conclusion
Well that's it for now. There is tons more information on the wiki that I am not going to cover on this tour. I think the items I covered are enough to get you started without confusing you with things like levelling up cards, progression, etc. Those concepts will come in time!
You can click here to Join Splinterlands if you would like to use my referral link.
Until next time, best wishes from my homestead to yours!
