One underrated ability in Splinterlands is the void ability. It reduces the amount of magic damage that the unit receives by half. This is particularly useful against 1 magic attackers because then, the unit with void will receive 0 damage. This is why it is really important to have as many units with 2 attack or more as possible.
Iziar
Iziar is a legendary Life Splinter card. It has both the Taunt ability as well as the Void ability. This means that it absorbs all attacks from the enemy but magic attacks are reduced by half. It is also fairly quick so it can do damage at the start of the round, usually.
One drawback of Iziar is that because of the Taunt ability, if you don't place him at the front of your lineup, Explosive attacks might damage 3 units. Usually, I place him at the front. The only exception is that if I have a Self-healer, I place him in second place.
How does it look like in practice?
My opponent has two units that only do 1 magic attack. This means that per round, at least 2 damage from my opponent is negated. Very useful. Another unit does only 2 magic damage, which gets reduced to 1 damage, which is quite weak.
Iziar survived till round 3, despite absorbing all the damage from my opponent. If my opponent had more 2 or 3 magic attack cards, he could have worn down Iziar. 2 and 3 Attack
So what is clear, is that even in the lower leagues of Bronze II in Modern, 1 attack units are not enough. They will lose you the battle unless they come paired with other outstanding abilities. I'd also recommend having at least three 3 attack units on your side for higher mana battles.
Debuffs and Nullifiers
Abilities like Headwind and Void also count for a lot to reduce your opponent's attacks, so their 3 damage becomes a lot more manageable at 2 or 1. While I didn't do so in this battle, by using headwinds and pairing it with a Shield unit, you might be able to have a similar effect like Void did in this battle.
Hope you guys consider using Iziar and its wonderful Taunt and Void abilities more in your battles. Also, reducing the damage of your opponents is a big part of the game and maybe more important than boosting your own attack.

I love the IZIAR, especially in an all magic game. I think overall it did its job as a tank in this game while putting out some decent magic damage, just the opportunity card of the opponent doing most of the damage to it.
Iziar in an all magic battle rocks. Void is so frustrating for opponents.
