How I Make My Comic - Speedpaint Video

in #speedpaint7 years ago (edited)

Hi all!

I wanted to share this short time lapse video that shows a bit of my process for inking and coloring a comic page. This page is in a different style than I'm working in now, but I think is still really interesting and hopefully something people find helpful.

This page is #3 from my webcomic, Tugboat, which you can read here!

This video skips over a lot of very important parts of creating this page (which I will talk about in other posts), but shows a lot of revisions that I had to make after doing traditional inking - aka pen on paper, not Photoshop (which is what I use now). It also shows the process I was using to digitally color the page.

I hope you enjoy!

Great video man thanks for sharing :)

How long does it take to create let's say a 20 page comic?

Upvoted, resteemed and following!

A long time! It depends on the rate that you're working on it - different artists work at different paces. If you work at a page a week, that's twenty weeks. I've been really taking my time with this project, and working at my own pace while also working full time, so it's taken a lot longer. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for the follow!

I see.. you are welcome my friend

You bet! Hope that answer was helpful :)

Like watching the process of drawing, like magic :P
(The video crash after 0:50, not sure my network problem or any error of loading Dtube @@)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Uh oh, I'm not sure why that's happening. It seems to be working fine for me, hopefully it's not a bigger problem.

looks complicated to get to paint like you, but the end result is amazing :)

Haha, it's not super complicated but definitely something I've practiced for awhile. It gets easier the more you do it! Glad you liked the video, thank you!

This is awesome. Resteemed/followed etc...I love how this platform lets folks share their process, not just the product! So rad.

Thanks for the support! Yeah, being able to share and talk about my process is so great. Glad other people find it interesting!
