Como el Atlético de Madrid no puede fichar jugadores, la operación se llevará a cabo de la siguiente manera. Vitolo compará su libertad con un "préstamo" del Atlético de Madrid de 40 millones de euros, que tendrá que depositar en LaLiga. Al pagar su cláusula de rescisión, el jugador quedará libre para negociar con cualquier club. Ese equipo será la UD Las Palmas. Los canarios firmarán como agente libre a Vitolo hasta enero, cuando lo venderán, también como agente libre al Atlético.
El Sevilla recibirá 40 millones de euros por el jugador. El Atlético podrá disponer de Vitolo a partir de enero y, lo más importante, podrá inscribirlo en la Champions. El jugador no perderá seis meses de competición y firmará por un equipo en el que tendrá minutos, importante para él de cara a Mundial, y además podrá jugar la competición europea."
