The European Commission has started a public poll that has the goal of finding out whether Europeans want to keep or abolish daylight saving time.
Daylight Saving Time

The poll has began on Thursday with a Tweet on the European Commission's Twitter account with a statement “We have launched a consultation on the daylight saving time clock to evaluate whether or not the rules should be changed. Share your views by filling in the online questionnaire...”
Sadly, the questionnaire isn’t working. Trying to access it will result in an error page saying the EUROPA server is temporarily unavailable. Currently, we don’t have information on why this is, whether there is just some technical problem or whether this is caused by the increased interest of the public to fill out the questionnaire.
Discussions on the topic whether daylight saving time is a positive or negative things have been happening for years. The critics argue that the chance increases demand for electricity and disrupts natural biological processes of humans leading to long-term health problems. Also, statistics show that after the clocks switch the amounts of suicides and heart attacks rise.
The people who are for daylight saving time argues that this provides us with natural sunlight later into the day. And “longer” days give people more time to exercise and do various recreational activities that can be beneficial to human health. And statistics also show that the amount of robberies goes down by up to 27 % during daylight saving time.
A research performed in 2014 showed that the majority of people in the European Union has no problem with daylight saving time. But not everywhere, for example, in Finland more than 70 000 citizens signed a petition to abolish daylight saving time. But even that wasn’t enough to abolish it.
