What is EFFECT.AI?
EFFECT.AI is a decentralized network for AI.
As we move into the future, AI is becoming a capable substitute for human intelligence in many scenarios. Corporations have been investing large sums of money into developing AI for years, in hopes of controlling the industry as well as minimizing labor costs in the near future. These technological advances are inaccessible to the average developers, users, and small businesses.
The Effect Network aims to create a fully decentralized ecosystem, whereby users can access these technologies without an overcharging intermediary.
How
The development of EFFECT.AI will occur in three phases.
Phase 1: Effect Mechanical Turk
The first phase intends to bring Mechanical Turk to the blockchain. This service will allow developers to access a global workforce that can help in "teaching" the AI. It will essentially be a marketplace where users can earn tokens for completing tasks. The completion of these tasks will not only earn them tokens, but it will also help move AI forward.
Phase 2: Effect Smart Market
The second phase is an AI marketplace on the Effect Network. Using the Effect Network, users such as companies, will be able to buy AI related services. The services that are on the marketplace can be developed with the help of the Effect Mechanical Turk developed in Phase 1.
Phase 3:* Effect Power*
This is the third and final stage. This stage will use shared computation in order to power the developed AI applications.
The Three Stages: Total Decentralization of AI
Phase 1 will drive user growth and network development.
Phase 2 will bring AI development to the network.
Phase 3 will power the AI.
The end-goal of the three phases is a completely decentralized AI network. Users will be able to take advantage of AI technology, develop it, buy it and sell it. All of this will be done without any third parties earning money by playing the intermediary. This is a prime example of utilizing the blockchain and taking advantage of its decentralized nature to restructure an existing inefficient ecosystem into something faster, cheaper and more effective.
Use-Case
Samantha is a developer. She has been working as an AI developer for a big company for two decades. As a veteran of the industry and a passionate developer, she has been developing her own logistics AI. Her intention is to develop an AI that can take input information such as addresses, address changes written by people, or transcribed from audio and have the computer automatically book shipments, re-route or cancel when necessary and update existing map databases for future shipping orders.
Samantha had worked on her project for over five years, and is approaching the testing stages. This is where she hits a wall. She is willing to invest in her idea, but she simply cannot afford the mass amount of input test data that she needs in order to optimize her AI system. She needs people to write her AI e-mails, make voice calls (with a variety of voices) and complete other tasks that can ensure the AI is ready for commercial implementation.
Effect.AI Phase One
Samantha could use the Mechanical Turk system to send out tasks globally, asking users to request a change in address or cancel the order in a test environment. Without any intermediaries, she will save on costs and have access to a large network of human intelligence that can help her test and improve the AI.
Effect.AI Phase Two
After a few months of rigorous testing, Samantha quit her job. She is now ready to put her application on the marketplace. Small businesses and large enterprises can purchase Samantha's AI system to optimize their business and save costs on human labor for certain logistics tasks.
Effect.AI Phase Three
Samantha's AI is a huge success in the marketplace. Her clients use her AI from the cloud, and as part of her service she takes care of the computational power. Her first few sets of computers are running well above capacity. She turns to the Effect Network for help! Utilizing Effect Power, she is able to scale her AI and continue concentrating on improving the AI through data gathered by her customers.
