mining is the only perfect way for cryptocurrency.. otherwise nobody had booked asicminers
steemit is definitly the new way... but exchanges are still in btc and eth.. ltc... which are possible to be made more through mining only...

Mining costs electricity and when there is a different way to ensure integrity and safety of the chain that does not require huge amounts of power, that one is clearly superior
asics existing is a problem of bitcoin. New mining algorithms like monero uses have adressed this issue. asics ruin the core safety principle of bitcoin, same as mining pools do.
