My Battle Through Life

in #positivity7 years ago (edited)

My story started out back in 2006 when I started to lose my vision and gaining weight everyday. My Optometrist found a blockage behind my eye. Wilth further testing I was diagnosed with a Pituitary gland tumour. As days passed the tumour continued to grow and I needed surgery as soon as possible. In my province there was not a specialist here that could do my surgery so me and my family had to go spend over two weeks in another province. After surgery it was a long recovery but overall everything was fine coming out of surgery. I then moved on with my life going to College and living in a different province. Although I was on medications I still felt I wasn't getting any better but just living with my health problems. Life wasn't the same as a 20 year old. My body and mind were different, lost all self esteem, depression and anxiety were problems I now had to deal with. My health continued to get worse and the tumour had grown back. In 2012 I had surgery in my home province and woke up after surgery with everything being so dark. I was then put back under due to a blood clot that had formed. Waking up in the recovery room I learned I had lost a significant amount of vision from complications of the tumour.

Learning to walk and move again was like starting over as a child. Lighting was very tough on my eyes and I had to work my way ahead every day. As a 25 year old losing my independence (drivers license) and losing even more self esteem I headed down a bad path of depression, PTSD and anxiety. I couldn't have fun doing anything, very negative and through counselling and meetings I just couldn't get out of it.

After 5 years I have finally taken back my life and work positive everyday. I feel so much better being in a positive frame of mind then a dragging down, feeling horrible everyday, negativity. My mom has been diagnosed with cancer and seeing her battle and overcome pain everyday it has given me a positive outlook. The only way to battle cancer is to be positive and battle. I cherish my time with her every moment and she has been an amazing help for me in my hole life and in my journey in becoming a positive person.

No matter how down you are, feel like there is nothing left, why am I here feelings, it's never over. We aren't put here to leave early and hurt all of our family and friends. Sometimes talking doesn't seem to help but keep doing it over and over. Keep yourself around people you want to be around that bring out the best in you. Do things and hobbies you like to do (I love golf as you can see at the bottom) Cherish your life. Be positive through everything. Be you.

Keep fighting the fight brother, can't put myself in your shoes, but takes some guts to talk about that stuff. Lots of respect.

Thanks brother! We all have issues. Talking is how I move on! Everything is brighter now!
