My very first Twitter poem

So, the other day, I was wandering around inside Twitter's belly, amazed by how poetic the people sounded in their everyday notes, without even noticing it.
Abstract poetry has always appealed to me, as well as the digital forms of art.
Nowadays, more and more AI write actual books or screenplays, challenging flesh and blood poets to reinvent themselves and to renew their relationship to words. Of course, social medias already have their own creative process: collaborative writing.
But there are more than one way for poetry to hijack the 2.0. society, and I've choosen a more intimate path.

This is how I have composed my Twitter poem:

  1. Pick a theme.
  2. Write a raw version of your poem. You already need to think of where it goes, and of the sounds (not necessarily rhymes as you can see) and pace.
  3. This is the longest part. Many will bail out at this point. Verse by verse, search for the most important word or expression. If you don't find it, re-write your verse with a different expression. Again and again if need be. At one point, you will find a tweet somewhere that will be similar to the one you've invented. That's why it is best to start with a short poem. It is all about adaptation. Let people tweets guide you and don't hesitate to change the narrative when you find the gem. For publication purpose, you should also like on Twitter each tweet you've selected, so you can find them back later. I also write the address on a sheet of paper. But then again, I'm old school.
  4. Keep your verses short. It will be easier but also efficient.
  5. Play with the social media vocabulary. As of course, it is widely used on social medias and easy to search for. A verse like "But I've tweeted it" is of little interest... Until you start playing with it : "Beauty is dead, but I've tweeted it."
  6. You"re ready to publish your poem!! Retweet every line in the right order. That can be a little long as well, but at that point it won't matter to you anymore :)
And don't forget to make a nice picture of it, so you can share it on Steemit as well!

I hope you've enjoyed this poem and tutorial, thanks for reading me!
