Turning a Photo Into a Sketch With Photoshop

Hello Dear Steemians ...

How to turn a photograph into a sketch from a photograph using photoshop...

the fastest way could be like this...

1. • Copy the photo ---> Option J (Mac) or Ctrl J (PC)
2. • Create a black&white adjustment layer Layer --> New Adjustment Layer ---> Black&White
3. • Setting the copy of the original image active apply Colour dodge as the blending mode
4. • Invert the image --> Option I (Mac) Ctrl I (PC) ... in this moment the image should be almost white if not totally white
5. • go to filter --> blur ---> Gaussian blur .. then apply a Gaussian blur making sure the preview box is ticked and then apply the blur until you are satisfied with the result .. the greater the radius in pixels you apply the closer the image to the original
6. • Selecting the top layer to make it active press Option-Shift-E (Mac) or Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E (PC) .. This will create a merged copy of all the visible layers
7. • Working on this new layer select the brush tool (press the B key) and the white colour with an opacity of 80% clean the white areas if necessary, move the brush twice or more over the same area if you want to whiten even more the area
8. • Working on this new layer select the eraser tool (press the E key) with an opacity of 20% and move it over the areas you think are too dark, this will clarify them.
9. • Make a copy of this last layer (Option J -->Mac or Ctrl J -->PC) and apply the merged mode 'multiply' , this will dark the image.
10. • If you think that your sketch is now too dark, you can brighten it back up by lowering the opacity of the layer until you get the darkness you like if on the contrary you think the image is still too bright make another copy of it and apply the the merged mode 'multiply' (step 9) again.

voila! ... your drawing is ready ...
