Playing With The Camera: Stop Bugging Me!

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

(frape coffee) in the garden, the laptop nearby playing some music, a few walks along the beach, good food and of course...As I've mentioned a few days ago, I am on holidays in @trumpman's village. Days go by relaxing with cold φραπεδάρες

LOADS OF PHOTOS!

It seems that in this village one cannot simply relax and do nothing...

Everywhere I go I see spiders!

Spiders!

Some more spiders!

And lots of weird insects...

See?

Rorschach Test:

Can you also see the creepy mask-face here or is it just me?

OK, after a second look it looks like a weird tribal shield.

Hmmm, I don't know, it could be one of @nonamesleftouse's pictures...

Pfff! Those insects!

They are everywhere!

And hunt me down... or the other way round! 😜

Yeap, spiders again!

Did you enjoy this small taste?

Because more photos are coming when I get home.

And this is a THREAT!

Pyrrhocoris apterus!

Here's a fun fact by wikipedia:

P. apterus was the subject of an unexpected discovery in the 1960s when researchers who had for ten years been rearing the bugs in Prague, Czechoslovakia attempted to do the same at Harvard University in the United States. After the 5th larval instar, instead of developing into adults, the bugs either entered a 6th instar stage, or became adults with larval characteristics. Some of the 6th instars went on to a 7th instar, but all specimens died without reaching maturity.[5]

The source of the problem was eventually proven to be the paper towels used in the rearing process; the effect only happened if the paper towels were made in America. The researchers could replicate these results with American newspapers such as the New York Times, but not European newspapers such as The Times. The cause was found to be hormones found in the native balsam fir tree (Abies balsamea) used to manufacture paper and related products in America, and in some other North American conifers. This hormone happened to have a profound effect on P. apterus, but not on other insect species, showing the diversification of hormone receptors in the insects.[5] The most potent chemical component was later identified as juvabione, the methyl ester of todomatuic acid, which is produced by the trees in response to wounding; it mimics juvenile hormone closely at the chemical level, defending against vulnerable pests.

Wow!! Thanks for the discovery and cool fact! You're so sweet! 😍

Pyrrhocoris apterus
The firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus, is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae. Easily recognizable due to its striking red and black coloration, but may be confused with the similarly coloured though unrelated Corizus hyoscyami (cinnamon bug, squash bug) (see comparison). Pyrrhocoris apterus is distributed throughout the Palaearctic from the Atlantic coast of Europe to northwest China. It has also been reported from the USA, Central America and India.

ou shit. those spiders are beautiful. Where did you take it?

In Greece somewhere... The first and last one are the same, cute isn't it?

Lol... You and spiders??😂 Have you always loved spiders or it's just of recent ?? Have you seen @trumpman?? My regards to him...

Nah! I used to hate them, mostly disgust not hatred... I just started to like them ever since I watched close-up pictures of them and then taking such shots myself.
I'm sending your regards straight away @pearlumie. Thank you! 🤗

Oh... Aiit. It's good they no longer disgust you.
Thanks for sending the regards..

Looks like spiders have great affinity for you. Or maybe they can sense you from a mile away :D
Now I'm getting jealous.. How do I pick up this superpower of "spider affinity"? 😃😃

Nice photography Ruthie

Not all of them, some start running away from my camera and I can't make it to take a good shot 😢

Hmmm, I think you need to chase a lot of spiders to get this superpower Sammy!

Thanks for dropping by! 🤗

μόνο φραπέ;;; κάνα φρέντο;;;; καπουτσινακι;;;

Φραπεδαρα μονο!!! 😜

Very beautiful images. Good contrast, composition and focus. I like very much the last image of the spider , because of the focus is very very clear and the contrast is cool which help to see spider better. Well done :)
