Last week while being at the AWSummit i wanted to also visit some places in Constanta City, so before i had my flight back, i took some time to just enjoy whatever the city had to offer.
One of the attraction there was the aquarium.
The Aquarium is set right at the seaside, in front of the big Casino (we will cover that in another post). It was first open on 1st May 1958 and was the first one of it's kind in Romania. The building that hosts it was build at the begining of XX century and was used as a restaurant.
In time the Constanta Aquarium gathered over 100 fish species and other marine life.
Discus fish, with it's lovely various colors can be found in Amazon River.
Firemouth fish, can be found in Guatemala in calm waters.
Angelfish, a quiet fish that likes to live in big aquariums.
Pink Squirrelfish, found in the Indo-Pacific
Clouded moray, widely spread in the Indo-Pacific.
Brownbanded bamboo shark, nocturnal animals, can survive out of the water for up to 12 hrs.
Leopard moray, shy species without a good sight but a very sharp sense of smell.
Longnose, lives in sweet waters, in North and Center Aemrica.
Giant mudfish, lives in sweet waters in Asia.
Knife fish, can be found in rivers in India, Thailand and can grow up to 100 cm.
Redtail fish, can be found in the Amazon River, doesnt breed in captivity.
Wels catfish, found in Central and East Europe but also in Asia.
Red-belled piranha, aggressive with strong teeth.
European pond turtle
Stingray can be found in South America.
Sturgeon
Chinese soft-shell turtle, found in Asia where it's considered a delicacy.
Trigger fish, lives in the Indo-Pacific.
There were more species but some photos didn't come out good enough either because poor light or water being too dirty, however please enjoy some of the best pics i managed to take.
If i would have to pick a favorite from what i saw there, i think the Leopard Moray wins. It was absolutely stunning to see him move around. So yeah, if you ever get the chance to visit it, don't miss it.
