Here's a throwback to our trip to Norway in the spring of 2018, which turned out to be a lot more snowy than expected. When booking a trip a few weeks in advance during the transition from winter to spring you never know what to expect, especially when visiting Northern countries. It was getting somewhat warmer prior to our trip, but just two days before arriving there was some heavy snow covering the land with almost half a meter of snow, on top of the older layers from the winter before...That should be interesting, we thought.
The nice thing was, the cabin (Hytte as the Norwegians call it), was located in a secluded spot with forests and wilderness all around. Upon arriving at the cabin after a three hours drive from Oslo we noticed the meter of snow surrounding the cabin. On our terrace the vista carried over valleys and forests all the way to the famous Gaustatoppen, 30 kilometers away and 1883 meters high. It was an amazing sight.
What was even better was that the skiing season had just ended and summer season had not yet started. After waking up and having breakfast the next morning we sat on the terrace and we heard nothing. Absolutely nothing, not even the wind. No birds, no people, no cars, no planes. Wow! This was what we were looking for! The snow made it even a bit more quiet. It was one of the most peacefull places I had ever been. These photo's give an impression of the scenic views we encountered.
