Math of one travel

Several years ago I went to one of the most interesting of my pochdok. Two-week safari in West Papua (it's Raja-Ampat).
If you are not a diver, then it is probably difficult for you to estimate what is 2 weeks on the ship, in the mode of eating-sleeping-diving.



For all this time we went to the shore of uninhabited islands. But this did not in any way break the schedule of the dive. As a result, it turned out that in the water and under water I spent 5 to 6 hours a day. Everyday. That is more than 70 hours. And all this time I shot. For an underwater photographer, this is a huge amount of shooting time. For comparison, in 3 weeks in the Far East, that this year in the past, we had a maximum of 20-30 hours of filming.



Summing up all the figures - for one trip I got a one-year norm, at the rate of not less than 6 weeks of trips. And there was something to shoot every day, that would not particularly repeat and not bother. On one of the dives I specially marked different shrimps. So in an hour or so I found 17 kinds of shrimp! On one reef in the chord of a night dive. And all of them I somehow photographed.



So it's not surprising that many of the photographs taken then were left out. There were too many of them. I have been analyzing this bale for about a year. And still they did not reach the part of the hand. I even had fun. When there was free time, I chose a folder with photos for one dive. I sorted them and processed them. It took a couple of hours. It felt like almost have a dive)



All these photos from one of the strangest night dives on the trip. The weather was broken. From the first time we did not get to the right place. Yes, and from the second call came in a very strong current. We had to crawl on to the very shallows. And there is a sandy plateau. And besides the sand there was a sea of ​​plankton. On any included lantern literally pounced.



This is similar to how insects fly to the light at night. To shoot in such conditions in the water is extremely difficult - constantly something is climbing into your lens, blocking the subject of photography. In these photos you can clearly see the living creatures in the water.
