Rara Lake is the largest lake of Nepal lying at the altitude of 2990metre above sea level. Rara lake is the fresh deep water lake situated in the Himalayas of Nepal. Rara Lake is the main attraction of Rara National Park. One of the best place for adventure, trekking, boating, sightseeing is Rara Lake.

Rara National Park was established in 1976. This is the smallest national park in Nepal situated in Mugu and Jumla district but is rich in flora and fauna. It is the habitat for rare species. Rara National Park has 51 species of mammals, 272 species of birds, two species of reptiles and amphibians, and three species of fishes. Rara National Park is also the habitat for the Red Panda, which is also endangered species. According to research, there are 45 red pandas in Rara National Park.

The natural beauty of Rara National Park is of great immense. Surrounded by rhododendron, black juniper, blue pines, oaks, Himalayan cypress and West Himalayan spruce, it is an awesome natural experience. The view of snow capped mountain is breathtaking for many of the visitors and tourists. The climate is pleasant in summer and cold in winter.
