Getting too attached to“your” whales

in #photofeed7 years ago

Marine mammals are an interesting bunch of animals to interact with - simply due to their ability to affect us in ways that a lot of us aren’t even aware of.

After a while you begin to have your favourite whales that you do indeed begin to feel a strong attachment to & you get excited when you hear that ‘your’ whale is in the area and you might get the chance to interact with them.

One of these animals for me has to be J27 aka Blackberry - a young male orca from the Southern Resident Orca population. The southern resident orca population has seen better days with only 76 individual orcas left. They are salmon eating orca with the vast marjority of their diet being Chinook Salmon, which we have done an amazing job of degrading the amount over the past decades. Good job, humans.

No Fish = No Blackfish
This saying is quite common in the Pacific North West, as if we do not have enough salmon for this orca then they will not survive… its as simply as that

Once again reading your content and looking at your photographs, it is really sad that the man is guilty of putting at risk of extinction species like these, among others .... a gift from God because everything must be in perfect balance because that's how he wanted it the creator ... Thanks for your post. Blessings!

Nice one bro, don't they attack human?

thanks! No, they have never aggressively attacked humans in the wild. In captivity they have attacked out of frustration - like in Seaworld
