Thank you openmic! Your motto of using the FB group to lure people away from Facebook and on to Steemit is truly working 😀
Here's my personal experience about it!
I kept trying for nearly a month now and almost gave up. I knew that she had made up her mind about just reading the blog posts (as usual) rather than write/ create something of her own.
Though she is addicted to this drug called music 🎼, she was more into the Smule-app and FB videos related to music. I used to grow kind of upset that she had good talent in several things (esp. music) and steemit, & not Facebook, is the more appropriate platform that might appreciate those talents!
Although I gave up after a while, I had a hunch. To me steemit is like a vast community with so many different folks out here, it is almost like a mini-television channel of sorts.
I am much more into poetry, fiction and photography. I kept showing her so many wonderful posts about these. Like a dumbo that I am, I even tried impressing her showing the posts about steemit and crypto currencies. Of course, none of this seems to have been to her liking, although I am sure she was appreciative of steemit's young community!
I did not even bother to dig into the music related posts & did not realise that a very strong music community was already developing in steemit! And it was an educative moment for myself when she noticed the openmic contest and asked me about it!
For those who are unaware about openmic, it is contest encouraging musicians to publish their performance here on steemit. They also have a Facebook Group, but I am not in FB so unsure about how active it is.
It seems like the contest is pretty open minded in terms of the rules i.e. no restrictions on the language, style of singing etc. Only restriction is the performance should be your own.
Long story short, she joined steemit. I advised her to make her first post introducing herself. So without further delays, here she is!
Updateher post and also in the contest page (here is the direct link to her comment) in case you like her singing.: I noticed that @pavithra has published her entry to the contest as well today! Please do vote for her in
