So we took a tour up to the top of Maui. Mount Halekala is an inactive volcano that goes up to over 10,000 ft and contain 75% of the landmass of East Maui. From the top you look down a crater that is 7 miles across and 800 meters deep.
We got there before sunrise and had to be at the outfitter at 4:00 am. We loaded up the bikes and began the drive up the mountain in the van.
We were up above the clouds. Our bike ride began at the top and was about 15 miles downhill. Once we got to cloud level it began raining. We got wet but had a wonderful time and it was totally worth getting up at 3 am.
