(cos how many times are ya gonna be able to use a bagpiper in a picture)

I try to be as open as possible to new music. That being said there's certain genres that appeal to me more than others. I've always been a 'sing-a-long' kinda guy and my musical tastes reflect that. So with that in mind you'll wonder why I chose a song with absolutely no lyrics whatsoever for my first review. The truth is I chose it because it was handy. I already follow the author, who I know primarily as a photographer, and tonight was the first post I'd seen from him that was about music.

I guess creativity doesn't like to be pigeonholed. Once you have it, you have it, and it decides where and when it's going to manifest. This is definitely one of those times. While I know @davekavanagh primarily as a photographer it seems his ear is as creative with a synthesiser as his eye is with a camera.

The song he has created is, as he describes it, "dancey EDM type stuff." He claims that it is an unfinished piece but I believe that the piece stands up perfectly well as it is, and its length and ending fit with the descriptive story it conjures in my mind.

Have a listen and then come back to me.

For me, funnily enough, the thing that struck me most was how much this song, with no words, resembles a conversation. When I listen to it I can hear two separate voices almost arguing. The first light voice comes in and puts forth his/her point of view with the second person adding in little "but's" and "wait's" underneath that main melody. The heavier retort from the second person comes in to reply before we reach the first 'pause' in the conversation. A catching of breath before the the argument begins again for another verse. After one last pause it's almost as if the two 'voices' have blended into one noise where nothing is being heard by either side. This is halted by a very dramatic ending where everything just stops. Maybe one side has ended the argument forever!?

I don't know much about EDM music, so I couldn't say whether this is a good or bad representation of the genre. Maybe those with more experience can comment and let me know? I don't know whether a bit more 'conversation' might make this song better. To those who like this kind of music I've always felt that the standard 3 1/2 minute song length is pitifully small compared to the usual size of dance music tracks.

As I said at the beginning of this review, this wouldn't be a type of music that I would chose to listen to myself normally. Yet having listened to it quite a few times during the course of writing this review I find myself liking it more and more. Maybe it's the pictures in my head that makes it more appealing. Maybe it's the infectious rhythm that keeps happily skipping along until it's final fatal stop. Maybe it's the fact that creativity, whatever form it takes, trancends its medium and appeals to the soul rather than to the eye or the ear. Whatever the reason, I advise you to let a little creativity into your soul and check this song out, you won't be disappointed!

Hi there. Thanks for introducing a new musician to me. Electro music isn’t really my type, but I’m open to it. It was good actually. Interesting with seeing it as a conversation. Glad you are writing another great post.

Glad you liked the post beeyou. :). Electro music isn't really my type either but we've always gotta try and be open! :)

Omg, curie selected this one!!! Yay!!!! I am so happy. It is well-deserved. I was so hoping it would be ‘Daddy, why is the sky blue’ since that is my favorite. I’m just glad you were chosen! Such great news.

Firstly let me say I'm very flattered that you HAVE a favourite post of mine! :). Secondly I don't know who curie is and why it's great news that I was chosen? :)

Thanking you kindly. That was very flattering, especially as the track is unfinished and still needs quite a bit if work. The "conversation" analogy was very interesting too. Even when writing rock music I always like music to be a bit dynamic and range in tone, but never really thought of it terms of different voices in an argument. Cheers man, much appreciated.

I wasn't just writing that I liked it just to say it, I really did like the tune and the more I listened the more I liked it! :). I suppose with any piece of art, you make it and then send it out into the world. People will have their own interpretations of it and make it their own to a certain extent. That's what makes art so brilliant, it can be a myriad of things depending on the person viewing/listening/experiencing it. :)

Love how you brought the pigeon out of his hole. I for one had Dave completely pigeoned as an exceptional photographer. May we now add some musical feathers, too, even if I will not be listening to that piece again. Sadly with my hearing getting worse by the day, some sound-combos don't arrive too happily at my end of the screen. This EMD (you know more than I do for starters, for I have never even heard of it and call it all electro-techo-beat) falls into that category that leaves me with tinnitus for the rest of the day.

Lol, I love puns, though most of my friends usually groan at my witticisms! ;). He has definitely got the creative gene in amongst all those feathers.
That's a pity that you have to suffer from listening to music, whatever its form. Hopefully the tinnitus has receded by now.
And it's EDM (Electro Dance Music) not EMD, who are a now defunct Swedish pop band: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E.M.D. ;)

I understand your mix-up. I keep doing it for ECG and EEG: hearts and heads, a lot farther apart than Swedish boy bands and Electro dance music! Your still totally with it, old sport!

Nice visual interpretation of the track! Liked your review!

Thanks qsounds! :). And thanks again for the heads up about the Steemit Music Review. :)

You're welcome :)
