I've been VERY busy for a while listing heaps and heaps and heaps of vinyl lps. Lps have been gaining in popularity over the last ten years, and I think their popularity might now be reaching fever pitch, if the bidding wars I've been experiencing on my online auction site are anything to go by. The thing about music is that there is something for everyone, and while many of the lps I will be sharing are most definitely not to my taste, they are well loved by someone. I am basically going to share a random selection of 5 an episode, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
This was a really oddly titled lp, but had so many great songs from some of my favourite artists, I just had to list it. I chose Eddy Grant's I don't want to dance, and found this cool live version.
For country music fans! Those lyrics though....!!!!!!
Oh wow, I haven't heard this song forever, and it is so very beautiful! I loved it!
I have never heard of her. Very pop. And doesn't she look eerily like Eleven on Stranger Things?
Definitely part of my 1970's childhood soundtrack. I must have a horrible memory associated with it that I've forgotten, because I don't feel happy to hear it.
Music has the power to transport us to very specific moments in our lives. We all have songs we are desperately searching for, and those we wish would never be played again, ever. I watch customers in the shop, and see the joy on their faces when they find an obscure cd or lp, and it makes me feel fantastic. My own music tastes tend to be indie/alternative, and discovering new music is a passion. I am that crazy middle aged woman, blasting whatever the flavour of the moment is in my car!
That Bee Gees Song is quite nice and familiar! Glad to see the old film too!
Cheers.
I'm days behind on your LPs but don't want to miss any of them! That Bee Gees one is not one of the ones I think of with them, so it was lovely to hear it again. That's maybe their most beautiful track, but not as well known.
My favourite Eddy Grant is Baby Come Back, but yours was a great choice too, and that Reggae LP is a fab selection.
Yup, like Kenny Rogers too - my fav is Tell It All Brother. I like California Dreaming slightly better from the Mamas & Papas - maybe that wouldn't have the same bad memories.
I'm having a laugh at myself as I thought I knew some Melissa Manchester stuff. I have two of her songs in my playlist. No, I have two songs labeled as her, but one is Maureen McGovern and the other is Laura Branigan!
It's so much fun going through these lps, really an education and a trip down memory lane. Sends me on a tangent sometimes. I'm busy listening to all of Leonard Cohen.....
Would love the reggae one where is the bidding site? Would you send to England umm that's going to be expensive 💯🐒
$16 to England.
