The Night I Hung Out with Michael Glabicki, Lead Singer of Rusted Root

The 90's were such an important decade in my life and one of the bands that I always associate that time with is Rusted Root. My wife and I love live music. We were visiting Fenwick Island, DE on vacation and I thought it would be a great idea to see if there were any bands we liked playing live close to where we were staying. Rusted Root was playing at The Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach, which was very close to Fenwick. I bought tickets to surprise my wife for her birthday because she too liked Rusted Root.

Before the concert we had dinner at a place called, Jimmy's Grille across the street. While we were eating, in walked Michael Glabicki. He sat down by himself. My wife said to me, "no one should have to sit alone." She thought we should invite him to sit with us. Now my wife is the type of person who would of invited anyone sitting alone so the fact that it was the lead singer of Rusted Root did not really make a difference to her. So I invited him to sit with us and he obliged.

He was quiet but good company and we watched the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup while we had a few drinks. He sat with us for a couple of hours. A mom and her daughter who were fans came up and asked him for a picture, my wife and I invited them to sit with us as well. It was a wonderful evening.

It was getting close to the time when Rusted Root was about to go on stage and Michael said to us, "Time to make the donuts."
The band put on a great show and the venue was very intimate. We were able to enjoy the concert near the front of the stage and the memory is one that will last a lifetime.

I just wanted to share the experience and share with everyone what a great guy Michael Glabicki is!

Wow, this warmth is inspiring. Eating with strangers is always good fun, we just have to make the extra effort to reach out, be human and connect. Cool story!

Thanks, it was a great experience!
