fiction reflects reality

in #movies7 years ago

How many people read or watched the Divergent series, or the Hunger Games, or Harry Potter, and then went back to living their passive, slave lives. They admire these brave characters in works of fiction, but frown upon any real life revolutionaries. They recognized authoritarian figures as the antagonists of these stories, but believe their own should be obeyed. Is the separation of fiction and reality an outcome of fear, pure naivety, or successful brainwashing? Why is it so hard to draw a line between the Ministry of Magic and the United States government? Or Trump and President Snow?

It shouldn't be. Fiction reflects reality. Maybe your government doesn't hold hunger games, but guess what? They are most likely responsible for much worse, depending on where you live. You just don't care enough to recognize that. It's easier to go about your life and leave the heroes on the bookshelf, right?

Well for one, the rulers of this world do their best to keep everyone so poor they can't think about anything except making enough money to put food on the table and a roof over their head.

Hence the psychotic need to control all economic output and travel to an obsessive degree. Voted up!

touche! I know lots of people want to help but feel powerless, and I get that. I just wish they didn't act like I was crazy when I tell them about my plans, lol
