How to clean GTX 1070 GPU after Mining for atleast 1 month...!!!

in #mining7 years ago

Guys Thanks for following me let's celebrate 150 followers....Wow....we getting there..

<p dir="auto">I have been busy the last couple of weeks building and monitoring my rig.<br /> It has been mining well for approximately 6 weeks with little or no disappointment in terms of performance. <p dir="auto">It's summer here and with it comes the hottest temperature on this beach city of Dalian , China.<br /> Most guys have half belly t-shirts and women in some sexy shorts it's a bitter sweet sight as men show their bellies and women their legs. <p dir="auto">My point being the house gets really hot especially when you are running a beast with 4 GTX 1070 Cards 24/7.<br /> This means you have to keep the doors and windows open almost at all times, dust comes in , in large quantities and as we all know the single most enemy to GPU performance is Dirt.<br /> For those who are wondering YES my house doesn't have AC. <p dir="auto">So I decided to clean up my hardware one card at a time and here are the steps for anybody who needs to do the same... <p dir="auto">**Tools needed ** <ol> <li><p dir="auto">Brush. <li><p dir="auto">Screw Driver Set(PC Set). <li><p dir="auto">Air Sucker (not sure whether this is the name..Ha ha ha...) or a Blow drier. <li><p dir="auto">Tissue to wipe clean the fans. <li><p dir="auto">Paste. <p dir="auto">With the above ready the next step would be :- <p dir="auto">**First before we start this how dirty my cards were ** <p dir="auto"><img src="https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmQPfowQqT5rHsP8o6XBa6h43wecBKQvyX8KDiJEL3RmKx/20170902_094942.jpg" alt="20170902_094942.jpg" srcset="https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmQPfowQqT5rHsP8o6XBa6h43wecBKQvyX8KDiJEL3RmKx/20170902_094942.jpg 1x, the card in half.<br /> This is an easy thing to do as only paste is holding the two pieces together. <p dir="auto"><img src="https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmXa1Pfsa5Jgg6w5BxDYU5aZUXxJdPP3QRoCqjffvFaVTG/BackScrews.jpg" alt="BackScrews.jpg" Sync using the Air sucker blow air through the heat syncs and using the brush clean the spaces between<br /> the metal plates and make sure there's no dirt left in between. <p dir="auto"><img src="https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmRqqkSkAALd4KVm5uQu615P4q78iwKkGbuUzq2AzvUh5s/20170902_122443.jpg" alt="20170902_122443.jpg" using the same brush clean the fans .<br /> NB: Remember the order of the fans as this is very important in reassembling back the card. <p dir="auto"><img dir="auto">d) The last and I believe the most important part is you should remove the old paste and apply a small paste on the GPU Chip. <p dir="auto"><img assemble back your clean card and put it to work. <p dir="auto"><img src="https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmXpaSj4o8Uipv5FbEPeiMgiR4Zjk214HB3hEQAJ2T9Lqg/Reassembled2.jpg" <p dir="auto">When I load it on EWBF Miner without overclock , I get a way better performance and no more crashes. <p dir="auto">Check this out.<br /> <img My friend, a kind reminder here.

However, no chinese was detected in this article.
Please use wisely for your tag, thank you #cn tag is stand for chinese.

Thanks for pointing this out , I always knew that cn stands for China not Chinese in the sense that the experience you are talking about took place in china, in my case I am in China so I thought cn would be an appropriate tag.More of a place tag than a language tag.

What crashes you had, also do you use zcash cli?

Yes I used to have GPU crashed restart attempt and then later it could just go blank stops the miner crashes the Display driver and freezes the machine I had to restart.

Handy tutorial especially if you setup a mining rig.

Hi incpress ,
I will be honest with you , people said that the major crash of the price the past few days was caused by the uncertainty surrounding north Korea but I beg to have a different opinion. This is the news from the western spheres however the news from inside china is ICOs are being banned and there's a list of 62 ICOs that will be investigated by the government.
As a member of the crypto space though whatever happens the space grows.

I would try work on this

Thanks for this, I made a similar post about cleaning my R9 290x Sapphire cards a few months back. If you want to share each others posts about mining feel free to follow me, we have common interest in good maintenance of this high security digital asset.

You even a cannabis entrepreneur niice....!!!

Yeah and Licensed in Canada too

Nice man, congrats :-)
