Acne and Platelet Rich Plasma

in #live6 years ago

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a method that uses the body's platelets to help regenerate and rejuvenate tissues and stimulate wound healing. It is considered an excellent method because it is completely natural, and only few adverse effects to its application have been described.

PRP is effective in treating acne marks and scars because the growth factors found in the platelets used in the treatment regenerate the tissues and help create new capillaries and vessels, which improve the vitality and texture of the skin. This method favors the synthesis of collagen, which is the most damaged molecule in any scar. In the case of atrophic acne scars, it encourages the dermis to increase its thickness and fill in the affected area, thus causing the creation of new skin, instead of the scars and acne marks.

What is the process like?

is achieved by centrifuging the extracted blood (10 cc), thus obtaining the growth factors contained in the blood plasma and that perform their natural action in our tissues. These molecules are then applied or injected into the affected tissues to enhance their natural regeneration. The PRP therapy process takes about 30 minutes.

PRP is injected by micro-punctures following a grid pattern, so there is no possibility of blood vessel occlusion. The likelihood of nerve fiber injury or infection is virtually non-existent.

The number of injections a patient requires depends on the severity of the scars or acne marks. Some people will need fewer injections than others.

This technique should be used in optimal combination with the fractionated laser which is more effective in the most severe acnes. In the different types of acne this therapy has more advantages because it is natural, safe and has few side effects. In addition, it is a low-risk option that will not cause further scarring or damage.

Applications

Injected PRP is more effective than topically applied PRP.
This technique has been used in the medical field for years in traumatology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, urology, ophthalmology and dermatology.

It is currently applied in other fields, such as surgical wound healing, androgenetic alopecia in women and men, and in types of hair loss, and in aesthetic procedures to combat skin aging. In all these disorders, Platelet Rich Plasma provides the patient's own substances that promote the regeneration of damaged tissues.
