The Libyan military, who hold meetings in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, came close to concluding a formal agreement to unify the military establishment, under the command of General Commander of the National Army Marshal Khalifa Hafter.
A senior Libyan military official was quoted by the newspaper as saying that the military establishment agreed upon would include soldiers belonging to the Al-Wefaq government. They agreed to appoint Marshal Hafer as commander-in-chief of the army.
For its part, Egyptian sources confirmed
That the Libyan military also agreed not to involve the army and its leadership in politics, and the appointment of Hafter as head of the military establishment in the next stage.
A senior Egyptian official told the newspaper that the Libyan military meetings in Cairo had achieved real successes, and that there were small details, which would be completed later.
According to the agreement, the Ministry of Defense will be merged into a military council led by Marshal Hafter, who must recognize the legitimacy of the Accord government.
