“Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.”

I love Proverbs. They really transcend time and culture. This one is about how anxiety weighs us down and takes away our happiness. Also how a simple pleasant word can change everything.
This is a simple truth that we can all relate to. Anxiety comes when we can’t control a situation or something just isn’t going our way. It’s an everyday experience for most of us. It doesn’t matter if we are students, workers, or retired. It’s just a fact of life.
A way to help this is to turn to the Lord and acknowledge that he is active in our life, even if we don’t know it. For surely he cares more for us than we can fathom. If you are still down, pray, sing, talk to a friend, or listen to a sermon. Stir the Holy Spirit which resides in you.
If you see someone experiencing this, don’t drown them with sympathy. Give them a kind and honest word. Listen to them. Remember the golden rule.
