Afternoon Steemians! My name is Jake. I am fortunate to have stumbled across this new platform and I am excited to move in--if the community will have me. I tend to get into deep discussions in places where deep discussions shouldn't go like YouTube comment sections or YouTube live chats. I have always wanted to start blogging, but my ideas end up getting so grand that I never started. Time to dig in and Git-R-Done as Larry the Cable Guy would say. Scope creep has always been my biggest enemy.
My Background Story
My dad was in the Navy which means we moved around a lot. I was born in California and moved to Texas at a young age were we settled down in a small town and he got out of the Navy so he could be home more. After I graduated high school, I ended up joining the Army were I shot some guns, and broke my leg in basic training. I went to physical therapy for almost a year when I started to realize that I had even more medical issues. Long story short, I ended up with a medical discharge and sent home. Knowing what I know now, it is a blessing that I didn't go to war for the bankers. Everything happens for a reason.
I managed to go to college and get a degree in computer science. I am amazed at how little actual learning happens at publicly funded schools. Good grades amount to being a good little soldier and following orders plus some mere memorization of so called 'facts.' I realized that I could learn much more on my own with a search engine and some ambition. Most of the learning was done on my own anyway.
I jumped around from software development job to job for a while. I even worked as a government contractor for a while. I was blown away by the sheer waste of governments at this point and decided to resign to start a software company on my own in the private sector. Things went well for a time, but my medical problems got worse and I found it harder and harder to keep to a schedule consistently. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis which is the fusing and swelling of the spine. It is an autoimmune disease that can only get worse as the permanent damage progresses. It is a form of rheumatoid arthritis that tends to affect young people. Enough with the sad stories though, we are here on earth to learn and you don't need to stand up straight to do that.
My delusions of altruistic government slowly eroded away as I realized most of what we are told to believe is more like a reality TV show that doesn't mirror true reality at all. I don't think humanity is ready for pure anarcho-capitalism but I do think it is a possibility under the right circumstances. The smaller the government, the more we all prosper and succeed. No government should always be the goal, but we must be practical in the moment. Until people wise up and take responsibility for their actions and impact on the world at a 99% rate, extremely limited government seems to be a necessary evil as the saying goes.
I see spirituality and objective morality as being absolutely essential to a free society. Rewards and punishments in the next life is a great way to keep the sociopaths in line and without it chaos certainly ensues. Spirituality can also be a double-edged sword when immorality is pushed as moral by insane dogmas, but without spirituality altogether, things are even worse. We know in our hearts what is righteous. We must Listen to it always...
I not only want to point out problems in society, but also give potential solutions because as the saying goes 'if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.'

Hi Jake - I liked your post & I'm sorry to hear about your spine ailment. Actually, I think Mick Mars, the guitar player for Motely Crue has the same health condition.... Anyway, nice to meet you on here & I dig your thoughts on limit government & limiting bureaucracies abilities to impose their moral values on the governed .... with that said....Let's be Friends, @doctormegazlla & I'll friend you back.
Yeah spine problems are no fun, but there is always someone out there that has it worse. That is interesting about Mick Mars. It is a pretty rare problem to have. I think half of the problem is in our heads. Heal the mind and the rest will follow. Followed ya. Thanks for the kind comment and have a great day!
Thx for the Follow! ... Following you Back..... Yeah, I read about Mick Mars in Motley Crue's biography, "The Dirt." An excellent book, btw, if you like Rock Bios..... Anyway, take it EZ, & I'll look out for your posts...
