Epstein Island Aerial Photography

in #informationwar6 years ago

I used to own an aerial photography and surveillance business…long ago…but, have spent too many hours of my life looking at aerial photos…and just spent another couple looking the Epstein Island ones. Here's a few off the cuff observations:

  • There are a large number of examples of infrastructure/use anomalies. The observable topside infrastructure seems vastly over-scale for the plant it's supporting. And that's just what's visible…there are indications of modest concealment attempts with more and better hinted at..

  • Someone wanted us to be able to date and orthographically correct these photographs…indicating to me at least a professional or advanced understanding of aerial photographic interpretation techniques. Ex. detailed shots of the compass rose with shadows and winds and the sundial from oblique and overhead viewpoints. Not by accident.

  • The use of semi-sized tractors with a picture of one being loaded onto the LSJ ferry…tracks in sand indicate outbound. No trailers visible…must be under cover or underground. The large covered barn near the loading docks appears to be connected to an entrance in the maintenance yard.

  • The air handling systems on the larger building in the maintenance yard is grossly over-sized for the building…what's it cooling/heating or ventilating?

  • What is the bermed 'arena' used for? it is prepared as a open air containment for something…around my area it's dredge dump, but the open end negates that…grass and gravel bed with vehicle tracks is interesting.

  • Some of the cottages have unusual subsurface infrastructure.

  • There are several modestly concealed entrances to subsurface infrastructure or facilities.

This is just winging it as I have some IRL stuff to do, but this needs a more professional dig, perhaps it's own tag with a few old hands doing some visual algebra on what we see.

The photos also appear to be within the past few weeks (or the same time of year in a previous year) based on solar azimuth and elevations. The brown grass indicates early spring just after the equinox and not just before the equinox in the fall in September when the grass would be green from summer and rain.

I'll place it here for later research.
