For Americans, The 4th of July with its picnics and cookouts; fireworks lighting up the sky with pretty colors and patterns, friends and families getting together to enjoy the food, the pool, and some a few too many drinks; I wonder how many of us put little if any thought of what Freedom and Independence mean to us?
On our nation’s 241st Birthday, it is interesting to reflect on how near or how far have we have allowed ourselves to be drawn into a line of ever growing dependency on an all too intrusive government. Have we allowed the ideals of freedom and sovereignty, our brilliant forefathers so astutely imagined and conceived, fade into an abyss of dependency?
In an article, Horizontal Relationships: The Key to True Independence- Part 1, by J.E., the author suggests that “True independence is achieved by cultivating horizontal dependencies and avoiding vertical dependencies.”
The author describes “vertical dependencies” as those which are created when one party’s needs are greater in a relationship than the other party. The author goes on to describe the first party as the “giver” and the second party as the “taker” such as in the case of “government and citizens” and “lenders and creditors”, etc.
He describes “horizontal dependencies” as those where each party is mutually and equally dependent on the relationship. “Neither party is able to coerce or violate the other, as it is a symbiotic relationship”. He suggests these types of relationships can include a business and client, husband and wife, neighbors and even brothers and sisters.
The author goes on to say that “vertical dependencies” lead to slavery while “horizontal dependencies” lead to freedom.
Do you imagine that our founding fathers fight for independence was for the right to enjoy “vertical dependencies”? Of course not, because they knew as long as we were taxed and controlled by the Crown we would forever be in a vertical relationship; never free to live and prosper as sovereign individuals.
Hence, the revolution was a declaration that sovereignty and freedom and the right to absolve all vertical dependence were valued above any relationship or allegiance to a controlling and enslaving government rule. As JE pointed out: “Benjamin Franklin summed it up best when he said: If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately”
Over the decades we have gradually allowed our own government to replace the controlling, tyrannically superior Crown which we fought so hard to be free of.
Our self-sufficiency in growing, procuring, bartering and providing the needs of everyday living have been replaced with corporate controlled mega farms, huge mass-producing factories, chain stores full of highly processed foods, jobs which make us “dependent” on employers and, certainly, to the health care insurance THEY dangle in front of us which the government and health care system force us to have. We very much indeed have slowly slipped away from the spirit of “independence” and horizontal living this country was established on.
It is no secret the current monetary system is in serious trouble. Greed and corruption have enslaved us in these “vertically dependent” relationships to the point the masses seem hypnotized and almost “acceptant” of their fates!
Fortunately, thanks to forward thinking entrepreneurial minds, like that of Henry James Banayat, the spirit of independence and freedom of choice has not been lost but has made a STRONG resurgence VIA the information and technology age and the digital currency movement. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Cryptoceeds, STEEM and other digital currencies are essentially about the desire to pull away from the “vertical dependencies” and controls of heavy handed governments and once again claiming our right to create and maintain “horizontal dependencies” for the mutual satisfaction of a simplistic lifestyle we all so dearly desire.
Isn’t this an “idea” and movement whose time has come? Isn’t it time to “hedge” against the tyranny of “vertical dependencies” and take back our freedom to choose how WE THE PEOPLE want to conduct our financial matters? THIS author says “yes”. If you agree, I strongly urge you to become involved. It isn’t difficult to join this movement to change the paradigm of “vertical dependencies” to a wonderfully liberating freedom from the financial slavery which has taken over our current lives and into the "horizontal dependencies" of our natural state of living.!
Borrowing the words of the NIKE commercial, JUST DO IT!!

You hit this on the head with the "Spirit of Independence". We all need a shot of this to get off ground and run with the spirit that we were born with. Compumatrix has given us the chance to stand tall at a time when a lot of hope has vanished.
Interesting and Awesome post sophey2.
