RE: HivePay Payments Is Back On The Hivelist Store!

in #hivelist7 months ago

We already have tokens on Hive-Engine and we are only going to be offering a few of the high volume ones. Not sure where VSC is really going to do anything different. HBD is really what we have been trying to promote as a form of payment. Honestly really don't care about many of the second layer tokens at all for payments. HIVE and HBD suffice well. Then we have Monero, BTC and BCH, and other stablecoin choices on 4 different chains as options.

Sort:

The possibilities of more advanced contracts are to have time-based tokens for timebanks, real-world based assets, actual Non-Fungible tokens etc. Instead of just a debit/kredit database like Fiat, or a virtual currency having the same name and about the same "value".

Surely many currencies are based on USD, like Euro, the constant inflation does go hand in hand with HBD. For simplicity it is a good option, but for people outside the US it can be confusing.

Internalization is a big thing in tech, one usual practice is to give the option to choose the preferred currency. Have been warching the project evolve for years, just giving ideas for the future.

That's great and all, but having those smart contracts isn't going to do anything for us as far as in an e-commerce project.

As far as stablecoins, most commerce is done in the dollar anyway, no matter what people want to think in the crypto space, so stablecoins are really the best medium of exchange we have. Most if not all material purchases have to be done based on the dollar, and until that changes, it's what we would rather have for payment. Again, we have other options to pay with like Monero, Bitcoin, and other Web3 coins like ETH, BNB, MATIC, and SOL. So people have the option to pay in whichever of those currencies they want.

We have to accept only high liquidity coins though so we can easily swap into stablecoins for vendor payments and other overhead costs, so we don't want a bunch of tokens with a tiny amount of liquidity because we don't hold them or anything. We are built on Hive Engine and that is where all of the support is, so we haven't been paying attention to anything VSC is doing as it really doesn't do anything for us.

Just thinking out of the box. Automated escrows, data-based receits, transport tracking, local services, the list is endless. VSC just as an example project in Hive "ecosystem".

A decade working with p2p currencies and communities have taught something, cooperation is important. If the goal is just to be another market webpage, that is totally acceptable.

Yeah I get you on that. The problem is that we don't get enough support on Hive to do anymore development than we do, so we are not really worried about adding any more complications to the platform. If anything we are looking to build a different marketplace that is not tied to Hive like we are. The Hive community has gone downhill hard the last couple of years and it's been extremely difficult to get any traction. The community has spoken that they don't care about e-commerce as much as we would have hoped, so until things change around here, what you see on our platform is what you get.
