The News

Crypto fans will still be smiling as Bitcoin knocks on the door of $100k. I have no stake in that, but my $HIVE is looking better this week. It is opening the gap from the 'legacy crapcoin'. There was serious trading before it settled a new, higher level. The InLeo 'lions' will be happy too.

The deranged state of Elon Musk is driving more people away from his platform (whatever it is called) that is making a lot less money since he took over. That includes many celebrities and businesses who do not want to be associated with him. Some are going to Bluesky and Threads (the Meta one) rather than decentralised platforms. Hive really ought to benefit from this situation, but people just do not realise that it is an option. Any Hiver with a decent stake can claim account creation tokens. You can use these to create accounts for your friends with zero cost. Just make sure that they have their keys backed up and instruct them in the basics of Keychain etc.

Wallet options

In amusing news, satirical site The Onion bought Infowars that conspiracy nut Alex Jones has been forced to sell after he defamed families of school shooting victims. It is likely that content of that site will continue to be made up.

Friday Follows

  • As well as the Hive rally car there is also a racing motorbike ridden by @king-13 that advertises Hive. He has not posted recently, but check out the bike anyway.
  • I need to look more into @propolis.wiki that is building a repository of information about Hive. I am a fan of the wiki concept, but it needs to be decentralised. There is all sorts of information that could be stored on the blockchain to preserve it indefinitely.
  • @ph1102 does a weekly audio hang-out on Discord to discuss topics around Hive. I heard a few familiar voices on the latest show.
  • I have been created a Drumming community, but only just found out that there is another from @bateristasvzla that is mainly in Spanish as it originates in Venezuela. I see communities as a great way to find others who share your interests. You do not need to follow them all as they may do other posts that will not interest you, but you can check on the community feed at any time.

The Dog House

I noticed some account giving me some tiny votes today. They are downvoting others, but that is nothing to worry about as they do not have much HP. This seems to be related to Hivewatchers and they feel put-upon for getting downvoted. The votes may be related to which proposals you support.

Microvotes

We have seen things like this plenty of times. Another account spams my comments, but I have muted them and I advise you to do the same. What we earn on Hive is down to the whims of the community and HW are part of that, like it or not. Some individuals will also act on what they do not like and they have the freedom to do that. What they cannot do is to stop you posting. You can probably still earn as $HIVE post rewards are not the only way.

The End

Some people may have noticed a lack of running posts from me this week. I hurt my back recently and so am taking it easy. I have been for some walks just recently and seem to be recovering. It was bad timing as my work have a challenge to clock up distance on Strava this month for charity and I will not achieve my goals for that. I gave some money anyway.

I am using @commentrewarder on this post again. Last week's post distributed over 3 $HIVE to commenters and I shall allocate a larger share of the post rewards this time. I can give decent rewards with my vote anyway, but that can run down my voting power. I see other people who delegate away most of their HP to get paid, but if you are posting then you ought to reward those who engage with you and this is a good way to do it. You may get less post rewards, but it may pay off in the long run. It could at least encourage some people to stick with Hive.

The same that happened with BTC and crypto will happen with decentralized social media platforms... BTC was stubborn all those years, and finally, it got its spotlight... I believe the same will happen with social media... It's important that HIVE stays steady, with a growing eco-system!

Thanks for the shoutout for the #HHHLive show! Appreciate it!!! 🙏❤️

I think there will be a shake-up of social media in the next few years. I'm all for open standards so that the corporations don't run it all.

I’m very sorry about your back. Sending you lots of positive energy and I wish you a speedy recovery :)! ❤️‍🩹

Cheers. I'm getting better, but feeling my age right now.

Feeling your age? Just like fine wine, you’re aging gracefully💁🏼‍♀️.
Jokes aside, try going for a massage to relieve the pressure from your back. It might help!

I'll be okay. Btw no need to vote on my comments. Vote up some posts you like.

I do hope you're feeling better Steve. A bad back can affect everything you do.

Cheers. It's improving, but it's annoying. I've still managed to do some drumming practice.

Crypto fans will still be smiling as Bitcoin knocks on the door of $100k. I have no stake in that, but my $HIVE is looking better this week.

I bought some Bitcoin (BTC) at the beginning of this month (with Bitnovo cupons), but the Bitcoin (BTC) network is often slow and very expensive.

I bought Hive with a very small amount of Bitcoin (BTC).

The Bitcoin (BTC) fees are very high, and the Bitnovo wallet even notified me about this multiple times, so I rather choosed to redeem a few €25 Euro Bitnovo cupons in Litecoin (LTC) only to buy Hive.

I will continue to do this in this month.

Probably in the next months too.

I've not even looked at buying BTC recently. I had a few satoshis in a wallet, but I think I lost the keys. I hope your purchases pay off for you.

I had a few satoshis in a wallet, but I think I lost the keys.

But if you still have the keys, then probably it is worth a look.

Maybe you have a good amount in it.

Especially considering the recent increase of the Bitcoin (BTC) price.

I hope your purchases pay off for you.

Probably they will do over time.

Thank you.

I have put all my Bitcoin (BTC) into Hive Power and into Hive Dollars (HBD) savings.

Hope your back gets better quickly mate. I noticed that Hive spiked earlier in the week which is cool!

I'm recovering. We need more enthusiasm around Hive and a better price helps.

Indeed some plans need to be hatched and I’ll check out your drumming community and have some ideas to go into the Hive Sound Library- still struggling with the best way to host files but I might do that on my web server I’ve got and figure out adding a RSS feed to that.

Enthusiasm is hard to come by because people are exhausted by social media, so lots of fresh ideas and face to face events will help too.

I have no interest in manstream social media but I would personally put my trust in Musk before that slimeball schill zuckenberg

I wouldn't trust Musk to run a hotdog stand. Not too sure about Zuckerberg, but at least he's not acting like a 5 year old at a party.

ah he is just happy at The Donald being back lol

Hope your back gets better. Having had ankylosing spondylitus since I was 12 my back and associated spinal joints are in pain on a daily basis.
Ah thanks for the reminder about @propolis.wiki I need to get back to their discord and see if I can add things..

I'm lucky I don't get this pain all the time, but it's a reminder of how bad things can be. I'm on the mend anyway.

Oh dear, hope your back isn't serious, take care

It has been painful, but is improving. I just went for another gentle walk.

Hmm, for now almost all currencies are down, except Ripple and BTC Cash, but no one guarantees that they can fall in a few hours or days at most.

We know crypto is fickle and volatile, but we can celebrate any improvement anyway. I think $HIVE is worth more.

Sorry to hear about your back! Take it slowly...

I haven't seen the tiny (down)votes, but perhaps I wasn't paying attention. If we have been around Hive for a long time, we know this happens from time to time, with almost no impact...

I know some people panic if they get any downvote, but it is just a fact of life on Hive. Some of the big accounts can be nasty, so try not to upset them, but most are more reasonable.

Hope your back gets to feeling better soon. I know the quirks of back pain. I underwent back surgery about ten years ago on L4 and L5. Fortunately, had an excellent doctor on the board of one of the hospitals in the medical center. Haven't had any problems since. I think I was lucky because I've heard numerous stories of unpleasant outcomes.

Take care.

Good to hear you recovered. I don't get it all the time, but now and again it happens. I feel lucky I'm mostly healthy.

!BEER

That's good it doesn't come often, but usually when it does, sometimes it can knock you to your knees. Being healthy overall helps. Take care and have a good weekend.

Why would this spammers even be on hive. It's nice to see how we all encourage each other on hive especially those newly coming in, it really gives them the mindset to stick around. Anyways I hope your back is getting better ? Do take care of yourself

Many people (including Steven Fry) moved to Mastodon. As someone once commented:

"The problem isn't that Elon Musk owns Twitter - it's that we don't."

I wasn't aware that you can create accounts for your friends - thanks for pointing this out.

I hope your back recovers soon.

Some of those who went to Mastodon did not actually use it for long. Online social networks have become fragmented. There's no one platform that everyone goes to. This is why we need open standards to link them together.

I agree. I haven't used it much since joining.

I finally made it to the chiropractor today for my back. Looks like a I have a decent road to recovery ahead of me. I hope yours gets better soon.

Mine is improving. Just have to build up the exercise gradually.

Yeah, that makes sense. I asked today if they could give me some strengthening exercises so I can hopefully avoid this in the future.

@steevc, you're rewarding 19 replies from this discussion thread.
