Hivehound: A post aggregator with filters

in #hive15 days ago (edited)

There used to be an dapp called "understeemed". It allowed you to add filters such as comment count, post value, vote count and search by date range to active Steem posts. It was great for finding under curated posts though it was never ported over for Hive and became a dead dapp. For years it was just an idea again.. But in the last week the idea has been taken and built into a whole new dapp for Hive. In The Terminal discord a dev was asking what dapps does Hive need. And this was my perfect time to mention this dead dapp. And how useful it was to me in the past.

Not my first time I have tried to get coders to rebuild this dapp, but he was the first successful one.

@sagarkothari88 and his team of developers built this dapp in the matter of 48 hours! An amazing feat of industrialism for coding. And now we have a Hive native post aggregator thanks to him and his teams help. I have been playing around with it for a few days, and wanted to feature it to others that may find it useful as well.

Hivehound also known as HiFind will list active posts on the home page, but if you use the filters on the right side you can really dial in what you are looking for.

The use of filters is where I find this dapp the most powerful, we have been lacking this feature for a long time. Above we can see 1 day old posts with more than 500 words and 10 images.

With no filters we can see the home page above. Really looks quite different than trending.

The ability to filter like this is so good. I really hope other curators notice this dapp as it can really reduce the amount of time just clicking through Hive posts looking for quality content. It really changes everything when it comes to searching, I am really thankful this ability has returned now for Hive.

You can also add tags into your filters to help better find just the kind of content you are looking for.

I am really looking forward to the posts being clickable, then I can quickly curate the content I am looking for.

Things I would like to see added or changed:

Clicking on a post in Hivehound takes you to the peakd page. Right now clicking on posts does not seem to work.

Not all thumbnails show up. See screenshots in post as example.

An option to show posts with down votes could be an interesting addition.

Adding view count filter (peakd feature) not sure if possible.

Adding filter for other tops such as daily top post or top commented post, again a peakd feature.

Add a filter for animations detected in post like .gif URLs embedded.

Please add your suggestions in the comment section below....

If you like this dapp and want to support the creator, please vote for their witness and consider supporting their posts as well. Below is their peakd profile.

Cool! This is a fantastic development... thank you for bringing up this to our attention, I think it's a much needed-tool here in Hive, especially for curators. I can see myself using this tool once it becomes a fully-fledged frontend for the platform.

It's fun to play around with the filters; I just tested it, and it’s quite user-friendly. However, you're right, clicking on the thumbnails doesn't seem to work at the moment.

I don’t have any further suggestions for your wishlist yet, but I do have one: it would be great if we could assign a default frontend where posts open when clicked, as some of us prefer using frontends like hive.blog or Ecency."

@curamax - we'll have that feature by tomorrow.

You should have a provision to search in a time range, e.g. posts created between 1 hr to 6 hrs or posts created 5 mins back to 24 hrs, some kind of time range.

we will work on it
thank you for sharing feedback

nice, thanks for the tip!

I had some hive searching machine kinda site
but cant find it anymore

we need a good search field machine.. to scrape all blogs

Yep.. there used to be understeemed dapp

From what I've been observing, it's a useful and interesting tool. It's good that sagarkothari88 and his team of developers have made it possible. I'm going to investigate all its uses.

What a great idea, dear friend @solominer. Thank you very much. Have a beautiful Sunday.

Thanks.. hope you have a good weekend too

I just found out about this, it looks so useful, I will try it soon

Good evening my brother ♥️

Very nice.. hope you like it

Thank you for sharing this information.😊

You are welcome

Excellent, we need more tools like this. Thanks @sagarkothari88.

Keep sharing ideas. I'll add it to my pipeline & I'll work on it.
What other idea do you have in mind?
Hive-Hound was the product of @solominer & I'm going to mention @solominer under project title.

@slobberchops We sure do.. these dapps really help.

This is nice
It will be easier to curate posts with this

Sure will be

Dude, this is a great app. Like you said there is a lot to add and I'm not sure if the app is fully working, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Once it's stable it will be perfect.

Ah.. yeah if you do not enter the required fields it just acts like it does nothing when you press apply.

Make sure you select created or trending when using it or it won't work.

This is great. I would like it to filter posts by dapp from where it was posted.

Yep sure is great

Wow, what a great development, I really love and appreciate your support in building our future and gives to he right path to follow, this will absolutely help all the curators and the leaders, I think it will be nice to pickup the filter, the app is nice, I love the information, Thank you so much for sharing with us, more blessings 👍👍👍👍👍

Me too. I am really thankful for this dapp.. it will be quite useful.

I think it's a great feature,Thank you to @sagarkothari88 and the team who have built this dapp in a very short time,Amazing achievement in my opinion,And thank you very much to @solominer who have told us about this,I will try it in the near future 🙏👍

I think it will be quite useful as well.

You are welcome

Yes, that's right, my brother, it needs to be learned so that it can be used in the future, thank you very much for the information 🙏

This is amazing.... great work done by @sagarkothari88 and the team 😀

Yes they did

And you also do the same 😀

A great job for the short time it took. 48 hours is an incredible thing to do. I could have extended it to a week or two. It looks like a fantastic team for creating dApps.

Sure is quick. And they are quite awesome.
