Stepping Stone - My Introduction Post

Hello I am Pranav Vin (19), and these are the first few stepping stones on my Hive journey. I was introduced to this platform by a few good friends of mine. Being a person who occasionally likes to write and randomly watches movie script writing videos at 3 am, I was immediately sold to the entire idea.

About Me

I hail from the absolutely beautiful South Indian state of Kerala, but I have been brought up in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I’m currently doing my management undergrad in Delhi NCR.

There was something about my native land that struck out to me. Constantly being subjected to the cityscape with well structured roads and pavements of Dubai in my childhood, the lush green paddy of Kerala was a welcome haven to see things that I normally never got to see. However, one year apart from Dubai for my undergrad, and my heart yearns deeply for that nighttime cityscape and car-centric urban planning I once took for granted.

Being the first child of first-generation working immigrant parents, I grew up with a lot of love and a silver spoon in my mouth. My parents were highly intelligent, God-loving people, and they continue inspire me to be a morally upstanding individual with strong rooted values. Their sound upbringing has kept me in the right path all this while and by Lord Krishna’s will continue to do so.

My childhood and school days were probably the most easygoing times of my life. The buoyancy and light-heartedness I felt among my childhood companions while performing our silly charades and shenanigans are still my fondest memories.

I have always had a fascination for storytelling and its many various forms especially the art of cinema. I love witnessing timeless masterpieces made by great auteurs like Akira Kurosawa, Satyajit Ray, Martin Scorsese, and Stanley Kubrick. There is something about film that makes it stands out from every other form of art. Perhaps, it is its ability to bring out strong emotions from a viewer. Film in my opinion is the most powerful and vibrant form of art to ever be conceived by the human mind. A persistent dream of mine is to master the craft of communicating through the medium of film.

Since childhood, I have always felt a drive for entrepreneurship and cinema. My father was the person who introduced me to the world of e-commerce and finance. Ever since, I have always been seeking out ways to make some extra money for myself.

Another big fascination of mine is history, especially ancient and modern history. History, to me is an escape from all the problems and turmoil of the world we see today, and a door to the glory and grandeur of our ancestors. However, its not just the glitz and the glamour of extravagant empires, and ostentatious monarchs that capture my attention. It is also the scale of death, brutality, and violence, it took in order to shape society as we know it. It simply fascinates me how far we have come along from the civilizations of the past, yet how their lives were similar to that of ours in a lot of ways.

One thing I look forward to do in this platform is to share my opinions on any movie that catches my eye, ad well share my travel experiences especially to historical forts, buildings, and mausoleums in and around Delhi NCR.
