I just learned about a new concept.
I always understood how it works, but now I got a name for it.

Tacit Collusion
George Carlin comes close to explaining it here (40 second clip):
I'd say:
You don't need an explicit agreement,
you don't need secret meetings,
...it's when interests converge...
Tacit Collusion on Hive
Best example I can give for Hive:
Vote for vote. (v4v)
You don't need to explicitly come to an agreement.
You don't have to have a meeting.
...it's when you vote for someone, and they vote you back...
...eventually, you will come to a silent agreement...
...or rather: you keep voting for someone, but they never vote you back; you will be less likely to vote for them, over someone, who votes your posts, too.
If you don't join a 'vote circle', you will generate fewer rewards, than someone who does.
Over time, you'll lose the race to more HP; People who v4v will rise to the top.
I know how to prevent (or at least contain) this on Hive, by changing the code back.
but that's for:
Future Reference
Been cooking* over this for years now.
Had an epiphany right before I fell asleep last night.
*'Let him cook' is my favorite expression of 2023, thanks @ primeagen, hope I am using it right.
The correct English would be "Let him stew". Stews are cooked slowly over time, but also with the double meaning of processing an idea slowly over time.
It also implies letting someone stay angry or feeling guilty before letting them off the hook.
Interesting post.
I am trying to sound hip, though
primeagen uses it in almost every video. So, please let me cook, eh? 😅
You can use whatever you like. 😀
Just don't call yourself a "cooker" (someone who uses meth).
A very small percentage of Hive contributors receive good payouts for their posts. Most people come and go from this project. It would be better to remove these royalties, leave only donations and make 100% curatorial payments. Then the income on HIVE POWER would reach 20% per annum.
Good Night Felix, have a good night's rest.
v4v is kinda the core of hive, made easy with the friends tab on ecency. It's the human nature though, if you make a "friend" on hive (not sure we can rly talk about friend ship for 3 and a half votes) you vote for him and he vote back for you as a way to "maintain the contact" like liking a story with someone you added on insta.
You used this perfectly don't worry
Hm. Crypto Twitter was also going on a few months back about a secret cabal of the biggest influencers working together to create rugpulls and junk. While I think those lames get together to trick people, I’m certain HIVE doesn’t have anything so malicious. Now, would I like some collaborators to support my causes? Yes. Do I need to arrange some implicit agreement with them? Maybe. Will it be some type of extraction scheme? No.
People will often (but hopefully not always) vote based on their affinity toward other people or the type of content they produce. Back to what? 😀
