Hivewatchers Drama / AI Drama

Hivewatchers Drama / AI Drama, all this drama reminds me of politics. In politics, when you don't want to talk about bigger issues, you throw minor issues into the arena to distract people.

Let's start by the source of drama:

https://peakd.com/ai/@hivewatchers/ai-generated-content-not-original-content

My opinion about HiveWatchers
  • 1.1 Yes it worth fight spam, abusers, dishonest people, I don't like dishonest people
  • 1.2 There is no democratic country where someone has to prove their innocence, it is called presumption of innocence, HiveWatchers is not a democratic country
  • 1.3 Great part of HiveWatchers fight is about low reputation accounts getting a few cents from reward pool
  • 1.4 I'm ok with a kind of HiveWatchers existence, I'm not ok with HiveWatchers methods, you can do better guys!
My opinion about AI or anything else comming
  • 2.1 It comes to stay
  • 2.2 Not accepting it, making it useful and dealing with it is just backwards
  • 2.3 It is in your interest to know how to sum 3 numbers on paper, if that, why not do it on calculator
  • 2.4 Ignore or fight AI just because, is ignore or fight the near future (return to 1.1)

Saying that, lets see why All this drama reminds me of politics

Some part of this drama is about the Hive Layer 1 Reward Pool and downvotes.
Some part of HiveWatchers work and others following, is to take rewards from abusers, make sure their posts do not get rewards from Hive Layer 1 Reward Pool, downvoting them, blacklisting them, etc.

As I said, most of this accounts have low reputation and are posting for cents.

In my opinion abusers fought by HiveWatchers are an issue to Hive, but a minor issue to Hive Layer 1 Reward Pool!

Do you want to see a bigger issue? No? I'm sorry, this is specially for you!

If you look at daily top rewarded post there is a pattern, you can see, every single day, almost the same accounts! If most part of curators says they upvotes good content.
I don't believe that the same accounts create daily content that is always 10x better than most other accounts!

There is a pattern and for the healthy of Hive, the pattern could be and should be, less pattern! This is not a HiveWatchers issue but this is an issue on Hive Layer 1 Reward Pool!

We need a more decentralized Reward Pool, we need more and different accounts on daily top rewarded posts, we need more diversity, we need more equality, we need more opportunity!

1588511876842.png

Gonna finish my post with an example of what I think it is an issue to Hive Layer 1 Reward Pool (there are many more).

There are right now on top rewarded posts, a post that worth at this moment 80 Hive Rewards, from the top 20 upvotes, 10 comes from alt accounts or partner accounts and 55 Hive of 80 Hive Rewards are from that alt/partner accounts. What is this???

DYOR, take your own conclusions! I'm ok if you have a different opinion, this is mine!

By talking in different opinions, here is some posts I found about the Hivewatchers Drama / AI Drama

A good point there Doze, giving these huge upvotes to so few creators is unhealthy for the ecosystem. I try to support smaller accounts and those undervoted posts.

I am not against AI, but to use it and claim as your own work is deceptive. Citing your sources and at least 50% of your own original work I think is fair and reasonable from HW.

It depends on AI, I see images come up on midjourney that I don't have yet knowledge to do it.
But like I said, AI, small accounts abusers, are a small issue comparing to some things in front of your eyes. All eyes! Because as far as I know no one is blind in Hive.

So like in real life, those with the money want to keep it all for themselves. What is the answer? Buy bitcoin?

Mate, to be honest I depend ZERO from Hive. I'm just talking because I love Hive. But like I love I also can leave without, no problem to me.
To me, the answer is improve to a more equalitary reward pool, "fight" the daily circle jerk upvotes. For most part of people this is about rewards, or they will not be in Hive, so let's make a more equalitary reward pool. How? Trying to convince those who benefits and those who curate them that a system where all have the same opportunities is better even for them.

We need more OCD's!

If Hive is to scale, it for sure needs more OCDs.

Birds of a feather, flock together. The vote circle jerking is probably not going to end though.

Well... If will not at least refrain (I'm not saying it must stop tomorrow, it takes time), Hive will never reach an higher level. It's like the golden eggs, one day you wakeup and realized they finish. Like I said, it doesn't hurt me.. I just can't deal with injustices and dishonest people. ;)

I feel you Doze. Thanks for reminding us of what's going on, onchain.

It always depends on what exactly you mean by AI or which tool you use. If you only deliver copy & paste content and post daily, then I am 100% with the HIVWWatchers :-) Otherwise, AI is simply what is definitely there and will remain ...

Thanks for your comment 👍

👍🏻 Really good point to support also small accounts. I am trying to do the same and always try to focus on the content quality.

Yes, the big accounts already get a huge amount of the reward pool, it is best to support smaller undervalued accounts.

Content quality is key, if smaller accounts make good content, they would grow much faster as there is a dearth of good quality on Hive sometimes. I am sometimes spending some time to find it and is frustrating.

The so called decentralised social media platform became pretty centralised by those big accounts you mentioned. If you're in their favour, great! If not, you can already stop posting.

I will post until I have fun. Simple as that ;).
I don't depend on anyone!

Try to see it the same way. 🙌🏻✌🏻

Yes this post made me realize that too. If that is good or bad is on the other hand, I am not sure yet. If they curate wisely they can spread Hive to others too. If they only curate other big „friend“ it’s bad. And btw, why are they that big? It’s a rather complex topic if you dig into it but the fact @doze pointed out remains: it’s kind of an oligopoly and in this area far less decentralized that we think. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Indeed, I believe that you love Hive enough to raise these issues. !PIZZA

Yes I love but like in a relationship, the line between love and hate (I actually don't really hate much things) is a thin line.

I am really impressed with your thoughts about hive rewards pool, some top writers are earning for years and months and getting upvotes from same users on daily basis, that's why I talked so many times about it we have to look very seriously how hive Curation system is working or how curators are upvoting, decentralized, manual and curating unique content from new or unique active users should be encouraged

With exceptions, most part don't care and don't want to talk about because in one way or another they are part of the system

Bro who are earning a decent amount of rewards repeatedly from same upvotes, when we say something about him he mostly replied I worked very hard for years to reach that level, so they think who can't achieve that mostly starts criticisms on hive Curation system

It's a normal and human reply... Who get a good reward daily don't want to loose that advantage. I'm not against no one in particular. We should change as a hole, a community movement.

I've seen actions of those self-proclaimed "watchers" (they have no authority at all as this is a permissionless decentralized chain where only game theory and math counts) trying to be police but act like school bullies. It's just hilarious.

For sure they could do much better.

My view is the following: If someone is able to create with the Help of AI good quality content why is that not valuable? So far the AI itself cannot create content, one has to trigger that with certain questions/tasks etc. And everyone can decide if he upvotes a post or not. What do you think?

Agree! Look at midjourney and all skills and knowledge you must have to come with a common image or with an awesome and unique image. You can ignore AI but AI don't go way. It will be everywhere.

That’s what I meant. Tried it once and realized quickly that you need quite some skills to create good AI aided content. 👍🏻

I agree, the biggest issue is Hive's POS system. It's flawed, because it creates an Oligarchy, which will never thrive or be healthy for any system where it's allowed.

Yup! 👍

Honestly, I have become a fan of you saying what we all think and know, but no one dares to say. I also believe that there is a very clear centralization hidden behind the decentralized mask of Hive.

!PGM !PIZZA

Yes we can and should do better on that. It's just a question of thinking in Hive as a hole and not individually. We can all worth if we think as a community, even the few those benefiting right now. Or one day there's no cow and no milk...

Absolutly agree. I grew up in a System that used the same methods. It went down in history as a failure yet the young Generation refuses to learn the lessons. History is about to repeat as we say. Just watch and learn...

Fight the evolution and the evolution will kill you ;)

Yep thats what that is

Very sad to say this but I agree with this. Specifically I think:

  • It's probably better to have something like Hive Watchers than not have them (although some of the abuses can and are dealt with by not voting/down voting)
  • Currently there are quite a few mistakes or overly harsh treatments from HW (I've seen several good people driven away)
  • I get that it's a hard, thankless job but I think they should err on the side of assuming innocence.
  • But either way yes - the real problem is too much power in too few accounts.

And all of the above is why though I love hive and want it to do well, as it stands I'm not confident enough to leave a significant amount of my money tied up in it and am in the process of powering down 80% of my HP.

I'm not going anywhere - it's an awesome niche community and I'd love things to become more than that but I think my money is better invested in other blockchain/DEFI places.

Yep. Each one should take care where to put the eggs. There are lots of things to improve and it's time to improve it! Hope not see the same mistakes in 2 or 3 years

It is truly not easy to get some attention!
Still going strong in trying my best and recently my rewards also appear to become better.. :)

good post !

Keep going! It is the way ;)
