Your proposal mentions open-sourcing, but it's not clear on the timeline. Will you immediately be open-sourcing your software, or is that planned for some later time during the proposal period (and if so, why the delay)? I'm asking as this is a key issue for my vote.

    There are multiple reasons for this:

    • The code needs to be refactored with proper standard
    • There are some half-baked features that we plan to complete before open-sourcing.
    • Untill a month back Aureal is build by 2 developer team. Before open-sourcing we would need sometime to refactor code so that its convenient for collaborators.
    • The open-sourcing part will start exactly by the start of 4th month.
    • We plan to complete it before the proposal period ends.

      Open-sourcing of code is not a beauty contest. And, IMO, there's no need for the code to be "convenient for collaborators" before open-sourcing.

      The main thing that open-sourcing does is make it possible for others to pick up the project if you disappear, even if that is not easy. You can release it now, but with a clear statement that the code is currently not in a clean state, and ask for contributors to wait till you finish the cleanup before they make changes. I'm sure everyone will respect that request (truth be told, it's not even easy for most opensource projects to attract new developers).
