Heavy Hitters
If you are not sure what Splinterlands is, make sure to give this articles a read and at the end you will find some information to get started with the game.
@affliction here with a post featuring a battle on the ruleset
ABOUT THE RULESET:
All Monsters have the Knock Out ability.
Stun is one of the deadliest abilities in Splinterlands as it can make the target skip their turn and change the course of a battle completely.
Surprisingly, this is not the only use of the ability. Rather, splinterlands team introduced another ability called Knock Out that is heavily benefited by the Stun ability as this ability does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.
And our this week's post revolves around a battle with Heavy Hitters ruleset that grants all monsters the Knock Out ability.
Let's not waste any further time and experience this week's battle.
BATTLE RULES :
- Mana Cap : 29
- Rulesets :
Heavy Hitters: All Monsters have the Knock Out ability.
- Available Splinters :
Fire
Water
Earth
Life
THE LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 4 | 6 | For this battle, we chose a level 6 Kelya Frendul to enchant our water deck with +1 armor and +1 speed. Kelya has proven to be one of the most reliable summoners from the Chaos Legion edition and very widely used in both formats throughout all leagues in the game. | |
Position 1 | 3 | 8 | In the first position of our line up, we played a level 3 Djinn Oshannus with 2 magic damage, 5 speed and 11 hp. The fact the card also has very dominating abilities like Void Phase and Forcefield, makes it one of the best well-rounded card. This is without a doubt one of the best reward cards in the game. | |
Position 2 | 6 | 8 | In the second position, we are playing a level 8 Deeplurker with 5 melee damage, 4 speed and 6 hp. The card is known as one of the most dangerous card from the Chaos Legion and the Opportunity and Poison ability the card comes with at this level makes it even deadlier. | |
Position 3 | 3 | 5 | In the third position of our line up, we went with a support card with no attack but brings great synergy with Kelya Frendul. We are talking about Merdaali Guardian which has abilities like Tank Heal and Repair at level 5. | |
Position 4 | 3 | 8 | In the fourth position of our line up, we are playing another reward card, the high speed 3 mana card mostly known for it's high speed with Sneak and Flying abilities, a Pelacor Bandit. The level 8 copy of the card we are playing has 3 melee damage, 6 speed and 4 hp with the abilities making it quite a handful for the opponent. | |
Position 5 | 3 | 5 | Followed by our Pelacor Bandit, we are playing another reward card with Sneak ability, Uraeus. Being a neutral card, we find this card very widely used in battles. At level 5 the card comes with 2 melee damage, 4 speed, 1 armor and 4 hp and Poison along with it's primary ability of Sneak. | |
Position 6 | 2 | 4 | In the last position of our line up, we are playing a level 4 Igor Darkspear with 2 ranged damage, 3 speed and 4 hp. For only 2 mana, in addition to these stats, the card also has the Stun ability which goes very nicely with monsters with Knock Out and the Heavy Hitters ruleset. |
THE OPPONENT LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 4 | 4 | Like us, the opponent too chose to play Kelya Frendul as the summoner. However, the opponent went with only a level 4 version of the card which means we will have advantage of card levels overall. | |
Position 1 | 2 | 8 | In the first position of the line up, the opponent too went with Djinn Oshannus as the tank but the level 2 version only comes with Void and Phase but no Forcefield. However, it has the same stats as our level 3 copy. | |
Position 2 | 6 | 5 | In the second position, we are facing a level 5 Deeplurker with 4 melee damage, 4 speed and 7 hp. Though the card has Opportunity but it does not come with Poison like ours. | |
Position 3 | 3 | 5 | In the third position, we will be facing a level 5 Scavo Hireling, the neutral card with Repair 3 speed and 4 hp but no attack. | |
Position 4 | 3 | 5 | The level 5 copy of Pelacor Bandit the opponent is playing at the fourth spot has 2 melee damage 4 speed and 4 hp. And as for the abilities, the card has Sneak and Flying at all levels. | |
Position 5 | 3 | 3 | In the fifth spot, the opponent is playing Uraeus like us but a level 3 one. The card has 2 melee damage, 3 speed, 1 armor and 3 hp at this level. And along with that it has Sneak but no Poison. | |
Position 6 | 2 | 3 | In the last position, the opponent too played a Igor Darkspear, but at level 3 the card does not have Stun ability like ours but it's abilities of 2 ranged damage, 3 speed and 5 hp alone is quite handful. |
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In the first round, we see no causalities and the battle was very evenly poised even though there was a significant level difference between the cards.
- Round 2:
In the second round, we finally see the first kill of the battle as our Pelacor Bandit eliminates the opponent team's Igor Darkspear from the back line in the first turn of the round.
Later in the round, our Deeplurker too bags a kill as it takes out the Uraeus.
However, the opponent soon retaliates as the opponent team's Pelacor Bandit takes out our Igor Darkspear before it could make any significant contribution, followed by another blow as our Merdaali Guardian was taken out by the Deeplurker before the round was over
- Round 3:
Round three starts off evenly poised with both teams having 4 cards left.
However, our Deeplurker soon was in action as it eliminated the Pelacor Bandit to give us an slight advantage.
- Round 4:
In this round, our Deeplurker bags it's third kill of the battle as it took out the Scavo Hireling from the opponent line up.
- Round 5:
In this round, our Deeplurker gets another kill as it eliminated the opponent team's Deeplurker and took us closer to victory.
- Round 6:
In the sixth round, our Deeplurker bags the astonishing fifth kill of the battle as it takes out the Djinn Oshannus to get us the deserved victory.

STRATEGY:
Our strategy for the battle was to focus on the opponent's mid and back line monsters with the use of Opportunity and multiple Sneak monsters. To add to our line up's sustainability we placed a Merdaali Guardian with Tank Heal and Repair.
And all in all, we were very dominant in the battle and got ourselves a flawless victory.
IMPACT OF THE RULESET IN THE BATTLE:
Though we planned to make the most of the Heavy Hitters ruleset by playing Igor Darkspear with Stun, we could not make the most of the ruleset as it was taken out in the second round without any significant contribution in the battle.
MVP:
Card | Kills | Contribution |
---|---|---|
5 | It is quite obvious that the MVP of the battle was our Deeplurker with jaw dropping 5 kills in the battle. With 5 melee damage, the card was hitting like a truck and eliminated the most cards with one shot. |
