Hello Fellow Hivers!
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your weekend as we are celebrating 5th Year Anniversary of our beloved game Splinterlands.
Today I am here to write about a post featuring a battle on the rule set Explosive Weaponry
If you are not sure what Splinterlands is, make sure to give this articles a read and at the end you will find some information to get started with the game.
ABOUT THE RULE SET:
All Monsters have the Blast ability.
Blast is considered to be one of the most dangerous offensive rule set in Splinterlands and if we team it up with proper line up, we can wipe off the entire opponent line up before they are able to fight back.
There are quite a few monsters in Splinterlands that comes with the Blast ability and of course we have Yodin Zaku, the fire summoner that also adds Blast to all allies.
Our featured rule set Explosive Weaponry similarly adds Blast to both the teams making it one of the most fun to play rule sets in the game.
Now, I personally have 2 different approaches to play in battles with Explosive Weaponry rule set:
- Offensive : Play high speed monsters with high damage
- Defensive : Place monsters with Reflection Shield to negate the Blast damage.
For this battle tough, I will be following an unorthodox approach which worked out nicely.
BATTLE RULES :
- Mana Cap : 29
- Rule sets :
Explosive Weaponry: All Monsters have the Blast ability.
Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
- Available Splinters :
Water
Earth
Life
Death
THE LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 4 | 6 | Our choice of summoner for the battle was a level 6 Obsidian, the Chaos Legion earth summoner that heavily favors magic line ups. I actually chose the summoner because I am quite comfortable building a team around it in Earthquake rule set and heavy magic damage with Explosive Weaponry might be actually fun. | |
Position 1 | 7 | 8 | In the first position, we are playing a level 8 Pelacor Mercenary, our main tank for the battle with 3 melee damage, 4 speed, 1 armor and 10 hp. The card also has very useful abilities like Flying and Heal. This is one of my go to tanks whenever I am playing the Earth Splinter. | |
Position 2 | 3 | 1 | In the second position, we decided to play one of the new neutral soulbound cards, a level 1 Venari Marksrat with 1 archery damage, 1 speed and 2 hp. Though the card seems weak, it comes with Martyr that will buff up the stats of our Pelacor Mercenary and the next card we will be playing. | |
Position 3 | 5 | 6 | In the next position, to get the most out of our previous card's ability, we are playing our primary damage dealer, a level 6 Regal Peryton with 2 magic damage, 6 speed and 8 hp along with the Flying ability. The card's speed is what makes it instrumental for our rule set. | |
Position 4 | 6 | 7 | In the next position, we are playing a level 7 Goblin Psychic, the 6 mana card with 2 magic damage, 1 speed and 5 hp along with the abilities of Tank Heal Affliction and Silence. This is one of the most played monsters with Obsidian. | |
Position 5 | 4 | 3 | Next, in the fifth position, we are playing an excellent support card from the earth splinter, a level 3 Queen Mycelia that comes with 1 magic damage, 1 speed and 4 hp with Protect Amplify and Triage. | |
Position 6 | 0 | 1 | In the last position of our line up, we are playing a 0 mana card from the earth splinter, a level 1 Torrent Fiend with 1 melee damage, 1 speed and 2 hp . |
THE OPPONENT LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 6 | 3 | As the summoner, the opponent decided to play a level 3 Grandmaster Rathe which is the perfect counter to magic damage with +1 armor, Void Armor and Amplify. | |
Position 1 | 11 | 2 | In the first position, the opponent decided to play a level 2 Uriel the Purifier with 3 melee damage, 3 speed, 6 armor and 11 hp along with the abilities Flying Recharge and Heal. Looks like we will have a hard time taking this tank down with Void Armor from Grandmaster Rathe. | |
Position 2 | 3 | 2 | In the second position, like us, the opponent too is playing a Venari Marksrat to make the best of it's Martyr ability. | |
Position 3 | 2 | 3 | Next, in the third position, the opponent is playing a level 3 Celestial Harpy, the 2 mana card with Flying and Opportunity that comes with 1 melee damage, 2 speed and 3 hp. | |
Position 4 | 7 | 2 | In the fourth position, we are facing a level 2 Adelade Brightwing which is a card that adds perfect synergy with Grandmaster Rathe with it's abilities Repair and Resurrect. Additionally the card also has Flying. For the base stats, the card comes with 2 magic damage, 1 speed and 5 hp. | |
Position 5 | 0 | 1 | In the fifth spot, we are facing a level 1 Soul Fiend with 1 melee damage, 2 speed and 1 hp. An extra card for 0 mana can make all the difference at times. |
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In the first round, our Queen Mycelia takes down the Venari Marksrat with a hit on the Uriel which carried over to the Vernari Marksrat because of Explosive Weaponry. However, it got resurrected by the Adelade Brightwing which triggered the Martyr ability and buffed both Uriel and Celestial Harpy from the opponent line up which means bad news for us.
- Round 2:
Round two started off with Earthquake taking out Venari Marksrat from out line and and the opponent's which triggered Martyr in both line ups. Few turns later, our Fungus Fiend was taken out by the Celestial Harpy from the back of our line up.
- Round 3:
In this round, we see the opponent team's Soul Fiend being taken out by Earthquake. And we were ahead in the battle as the Celestial Harpy was taken out by the Regal Peryton with Explosive Weaponry followed by a killing blow by our Pelacor Mercenary on the dangerous Uriel.
- Round 4:
In the fourth round, our Queen Mycelia gets taken out by Earthquake but soon our Regal Peryton bags another kill as it takes out the Adelade Brightwing and gets us the deserved victory.

STRATEGY:
This one seemed to be a tough battle for us in the beginning as the opponent chose a summoner that counters magic, something our team was built around. Though we were behind in the first two rounds, we were slowly getting back into the battle with our damage dealers were making the most of the Explosive Weaponry rule set to eliminate cards from the opponent line up.
Our strategy for the battle was a bit unorthodox as we actually placed our Venari Marksrat in a position to benefit our Pelacor Mercenary and Regal Peryton once the card gets killed either by Blast or by Earthquake and the battle changed the course of it's action as soon as that happened.
MVP:
Card | Kills | Contribution |
---|---|---|
2 | As expected, our Regal Peryton proved to be the main damage dealer and the MVP of the battle as it was able to bag 2 kills and made the most of the Explosive Weaponry Earthquake abilities. |
